broken reset/power button slimline ps2 silver!

hi all, while opening ps2 slimline silver i have broken off the power / reset button from the main printed circuit board that holds it and the ir reciever. does any1 know of a way of fixing this, i still have the button, but no matter where i place it i cant turn it on, or failing that, is there a way of turning it on/off by messing with the wires that plug into the pcb? help is verrry apreciated and if it helps this is what i broke:

yeah , i know its bad, but i dont want to have to pay 35pounds for a new
reset / power button thingy. cheap bugger i am. lol

You could try to solder it back on if you still have all the parts.

doesn`t look that straight forward, the solder has to connect to 4 metal bits under the switch and its not 2 easy to solder, is there no bypass for the on off? dont care if it wont switch off, just unplug it:)

Hi there

I hope Im not to late on this discussion. I have the exact same problem with the switch on my sons ps2 slimline. It has come off, I think it was dropped. Anyway, I have searched every "ps2 parts" place on the internet with no luck. Could you guys please tell me where I could find that board?

The best thing that you can do is to get it resolidered... You can get this done at any tv or electronic repair place for very little money. No more than 10 bucks. I am not the best soliderer in the world, but this should be no problem to put back on.

There are no adjacent circuits from what i can tell, so you can afford to put massive noobie solider gobs without worry of bridging anything. If the prongs for the button reach all the way to the otherside of the board, even better.

If none of you guys have ever delt with electronic repair guys, you can afford to heckle without a problem. This repair will only take them about 30 seconds. If you offer them a lunch delivery, don't be surprised if they take you up on the trade off. Seriously!
