I've looked through the search and seen a lot of questions and answers here regarding this...and i think i get it but want to ask a little clarification before i go back to my modshop.
I've recently put a Duo2se in my v5 ps2 (at least the place i went to for the install told me it was, I never actually saw the chip and they put a seal on it to guarantee their work...long as the seal isn't broken it's guaranteed...so i can't really check.)
Most backups seem to play fine but there have been a couple that are choppy when playing video, or will freeze and load during gameplay but that i will blame the burn, or the media (Fujifilm or Maxell).
My main question is PAL/NTSC...i live in Canada and have NTSC TV and ps2...when i load a PAL game it seems to be loading but i get the screen flashing vertically and the colors may be off. So it's clearly PAL playing on a NTSC TV that is the problem but i thought Duo2se could handle PAL? Is the problem here that my ps2 DOES read the PAL disc and is sendin the TV the info but the TV itself can't handle it? it's a nice Sony Wega tv...i'd think it could do it...If that's the case I'm going back to the modshop for a DMS which should handle the conversion for my TV....right?

duo2se plays the PAL game fine but, the ps2 spits out a PAL signal to your tv which your tv does not process properly. I think DMS4 has a force NTSC mode which would force the ps2 to send the signal out in NTSC to the tv.

Right....so I'm screwed then. Either i rebuild the games with a patch to get them NTSC compatible or i get myself a DMS...only the 4 handlesthe PAL signal then? I'll make sure to specify that if i find the rebuilding a pain and head back to change chips. Thanks a lot!

You can buy a cable that will allow you to play your PAL games on your NTSC tv.
