ok so i was working on a dvd and made a disk that had a few errors in the final piece and needed to make changes. somehow my HD crashed and i lost all my source files for the dvd.
well after searching for a good ripper to extract my vid off my sample dvd i never found any GOOD answers, mainly because i dont want to encode the files.
well finally i figured out i can rip the dvd to vob and import the vob into encore fine.
but i didnt know this at first and i changed all the file extensions to .mpeg2 and imported them. well it worked and previewed fine and i made the dvd, well the audio got all messed up and out of sync, plays slow then fast etc
i also didnt use any transcode settings on the files.
i did notice that if i transcode the vid and preview it in encore i get that audio sync problem again. so im figuring encore is transcoding the audio automatically when it builds the dvd, even if i set the video transcoding to none.
i also noticed if i just import the .vob files into encore and leave the file extensions alone even if i transcode them (which is nessesary) and preview, the audio is perfect.
so my question is what is encore doing to the file with .mpeg2 extension that is isnt doing to the .vob

ps. i ripped with dvd2one which i think is the best program ive used yet.
