Hey everyone. I bought memorex music cd-r and i want to burn an mp3 cd for my girls new nissan ultima. I used a regular cdr and that didn't work, then i read the manual and it said the cdr had to say Audio and not Data. I went to memorex's website cause it doens't say audio on the box and i don't want to open it if it's the wrong ones. Anyone have any info?

I also read on the site that these are for cd audio recorders and not cd burners in computers? Anywho.

Any help would be great considering i already threw out about 30 cd's i originally made for her before finding out that the cdr i burnt didn't work:(

So let me get this straight....your girls car reads MP3/Data CD's or just Audio CDs?

If it is only Audio than you simply need to burn an Audio disk instead of an mp3/data disk, because all cds can be burnt as both.

the dealer told her mp3's and the booklet said the cdr's that you buy have to say audio on them and not data. On the bottom corner (usually left) on the front of a cdr box it usually says "compact disc" and under that data recordable. The manual said it had to say audio and not data. I read online that the audion cdr's have some kind of bar code or something that the radio and audio recorders need to read to make sure they're ok. They get some $ for them to make sure they get something if its being used for piracy or whatever and that's why they are usually more expensive. Anywho, still online to find more info. The dealer she had unfortunately is a jerk, so he's really not that helpful after you buy the car.

It don't matter. You can use any CR-R to make an MP3 CD. Just make sure the radio will play them. Most factory car radio's WILL NOT play MP3 CDs.

And don't believe anything a car dealer tells you, he just wants to sell a car.

How can you tell when a car salesman is lying?

Exactly. Like what i told him, just burn an audio cd and not an mp3/data cd and he should be fine.

I work part time in a car audio shop. I am amazed by the amount of people who have no idea of what an MP3 is

And many people think that anything you burn is an MP3 (regardless of format).

I can promise you that these car salesman have no clue Oh Well.

I love MP3 players in cars. I keep only 8 MP3 CD's in my car and I put 6 CD's on each MP3 CD (100-120 songs on each). A lot less clutter.
