The strangest thing has just recently started. I use DVD Shrink to decrypt and burn to my hard drive. I then burned 50 First Dates to a TDK +R using my HP factory installed DVD burner. I use Nero to burn these files to disc. After a successful burn I put it in the DVD player and it wouldn't get past the initial

. Nothing after numerous tries. It works just fine in my PC. I thought that maybe I got a bad batch of disc's so I went out and bought some Verbatim. Same results. Can a Burner cause this type of problem? This also happened on Starsky and Hutch and a couple of others. My computer is only about 18 months old. I even tried to view the completed video on a different DVD Player. Well this is happening now on all of my burn attempts. I'm not doing anything different, and was always successful at it, by using the exact same technique to back up my DVD collection. Any thoughts?
Thx

hi, first of all, this is just MY OWN opinion, TDK media SUCKS~! ditch those and stick with the Verbatim that you have now~ i assume the Verbatims are the 8x or 16x DVD+R variety am i right? these are great quality media, with the MCC003/MCC004 media coding respectively...now, onto your issue...

first of all, you need to find out who the actual manufacturer is on the dvd burner you have installed on your HP, from there we can point you in the right direction to make sure your firmware is up to date, AND THEN, more importantly to see if your drive is "bitset"/"booktype" capable...when burning onto DVD+R format, there are some stand alone dvd players that are not capable of playing this format, to "booktype" the DVD+R to dvd-rom, makes the disc MUCH MORE compatible to your standalones...

usually this is the suggestion i make when you can play the DVD+R perfectly fine on the computer, but your stand alones will not do the same...changing DVD+R to dvd-rom, also known as "bitsetting/booktyping" will offer you this advantage, as the dvd-rom format is the HIGHEST on the compatibility list, followed by DVD-R, then the DVD+R format~ :)

once we can get the manufacturer and model of your dvd burner drive, we can go from there...

let us know..good luck~

in addition to my buddy kivory666's reply, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar...

hopefully between us we can get you burning correctly again..

Guys I had the same problem with Ritek G04s, I started to burn them at 4x and made DVDs that would only play on my PC, I started to burn them at 2X and all is well. I use a Liteon Burner.

@EMX

Explain what you are doing, and what the problem is. Are you getting error messages? or it won't play on stand alones?

What kind of media are you using?
What burn speed?
What burner do you have?
What burning programs are you using?

@EMX - i don't recall anything funny, protection-wise about 50 first dates, i might be wrong but i don't think there was...

...let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"
