Do the drives work outside of dvdShrink? Can you play a cd on it?

Is this a CRC error?

I'm a little confused:

Are you trying to copy some of your older backups?

Or are you trying to burn discs that are blank, haven't been burned?

Either way,use this free handy tool to find the MID codes of those discs and tell us exact issue:

yes the drives work fine with a cd or an original dvd.
sorry will explain more if i try to back up a dvd and it is not an original it will not go through shrink or copy with Nero it comes up failed to read from acpci device (think thats how you spell it!)
it start off ok but then stops a bit through it
if i try and back up an original it all works fine
this happens in both drives by the way
does not do it on all back ups say about 5/10 i have dvd identifer and seems to be worse on my ritek discs could this be the problem.

I think you guessed it. Sounds like a disc issue to me. If it read your purchased discs, some backups, but not some of the other backups, something is amiss with the backups that it won't read.

Since you are re-ripping backups:

Those discs you are using probably have many read errors on them. Burning too fast/low quality media/poor burner/or a combination of those 3 are the usual culprits.

Try DVD Decrypter using Mode ISO read and Mode ISO write. It's a more aggressive ripper and may rip for you.Try the default settings first. You may have to tick:Ignore all read errors and rip with brute force.

What's the MID code of those riteks?

thanks for advise downloaded and tried dvd decryper still same will not copy have look again at dvd identifer and it seems to be the ritek g04 discs that are the problem
some of these discs are not even from the same batch some were backed up on over a year ago and yet it seems like all of them cause me a problem
the other discs like titanuim or mcc are fine
my writer is an Lg and will only burn ritek at 2 speed but burns the others at 2 speed maybe this is why i cannot back up from the ritek any more ideas PLEASE!!!!!!!

Check and make sure your drive is in DMA mode, here is a guide.

When was the last time you updated your firmware on your burner, it may need this.
