shrink doesnt burn the movies.you can set it to burn with Nero but Nero shouldnt have any problem with you using DVD-R unless your burner isnt capable of burning to DVD-R.check the capabilities of your burner by looking it up on the web or using a program like DVD Decrypter to check the capabilities.

also are you using Nero to burn.if not,go into the settings of shrink and unselect the option to burn with Nero and then use your burn program to burn the movie.

What is the exact model# of your phillips DVD+RW?

If it's an older drive,it may be plus format only. Your model# will tell us. Also find the firmware version that is on it.

Use this free handy program to find: Media codes/burner model#/and firmware version:

Post back the results.

Do you mean DMA?

You'll have to go through device manager and find your IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Open up that controller tree, right click on each controller/properties/advanced settings and look for dma/udma/or if available.Make sure none of them say pio mode. If one of them says pio mode, uninstall that driver and reboot. If more than 1 controller in pio mode, the uninstall 1 controller and reboot,1 controller at a time.

Your burner only supports +R media. That is why you cannot use -R media. - http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDname=DVD8601+&Submit=S...
