May I speak to Doc K666 and all the dvd experts. I had bought one piece of A1 Gold Dvd Disk and tried out.
One thing funny is that after burning with no error, it can only play with my sony dvd players and the rest of the dvd players like hitachi, LG, samsung, Pioneer, panasonic, Philips, and all other no brand dvd players refuses accept this kind of dvd disk.
But I have check the ID of the A1 Gold dvd disk is MCC003 made by mitsubishi and same family with verbratim I suppose??
Now that I found out that not all dvd disks made by MCC is trusted.
I suppose these batch of A1 Gold dvd disk is manufacture by MCC in Taiwan???
hmmm...well, since i spoke about MCC discs in general in your other thread, i made it a point that i had NEVER tried your A1 Gold disc branding before; just made a "mental note" that perhaps THIS particular brand of media is not up to par w/ MCC manufacturing standards...despite the MCC coding, it sounds like this particular disc of yours is rather "finicky" when it comes to stand alone dvd players...based on your description and observations, it ONLY plays on your Sony stand alone dvd player? and nothing else? that is odd...
just curious, this is a 8x DVD+R media am i correct? did we ever get to the point of figuring out if your particular make and model of dvd burner allows you to bitset/booktype? or are you currently booktyping ALL your DVD+R media to dvd-rom? and this particular disc STILL does not play on any of your other standalone players?
well, i guess we all learn from trial and error; since i have never heard of this A1 Gold disc before you brought it to my attention, guess i will have to "cross this one OFF my list" of useable media...sorry, didn't mean to have you be a "guinea pig" and try this media out, but thank you for your input on the disc itself..

K666,
My benq 1620 had been set to dvd-rom when I upgrade my firmware to the latest. Got no problems with maxell MIJ. verbratim, the gen mitsubishi dvd and Fuji MIJ. All these dvd disks when I burnt result were execellent. All these disks can play with samsung, LG, panasonic, Hitachi, Benq, Philip, sony, and all other no brand dvd player with execellent picture and sound.
ok, so basically, that's a confirmation of NEVER buying the "A1 Gold" disc/media ever again...
trial and error my friend, i went through it a long time ago and i just stick with WHAT DOES work well for me now~ :)
looks like another "brand" imma add to my "crap media" list, guess ALL MCCs are NOT created equal...i'm sorry to hear of your misfortune, i hope you didn't buy TOO many after our last conversation in your other thread :)
