That doesn't mean anything. Most likely the X-box and the PS2 use different ports. Most games use different ports as well. Search google to find out which ports the game your playing uses. Then you need to find out which router you have. Then you have to forward the ports for that particular game. It's easy, if you're willing to read. The link below will contain info on how to forward ports for your router. If you have DSL, check Control Panel--> Network and Internet Connections--> Network Connections --> Right click the connection you use to get online, then click properties. Click the wireless networks tab, then click view available wireless networks. Whatever is listed there should be your router. Then consult the link below to find out how to configure your router. If you have cable, I'm not sure how to find out which router you have. In that case contact the system administrator or check google. It's not hard, but you've got to be willing to search a little bit.

I'm not really sure. You do have the network adapter for the PS2, right?

I don't really play PS2 games online. Do you have dial up or high speed? If you have dial up, then your IP address changes every time go online. If you have high speed, you can configure your IP so it's static, in other words so it's always the same. Look for your particular router and see if there is a guide for setting up a static IP address. Another possibility is that your behind a firewall. Do you route your PS2 thru your PC? If so make sure you allow your PS2 to get through.
