I've got a v4 PS2 w/ Magic 3.1 chip. Can't get past the ps2 menu screen (2nd screen you see when you turn on your PS2, the one with the swirling lights). All burns were done at 2X. Here's what I've tried so far:

*regular burn with Decrypter: can't get past PS2 menu screen
*rebuilding image: same
*turned chip off and used Swapmagic 2.0: makes weird loading noises
before going to the red boarder screen and freezes

I don't think it's my PS2. It still plays large ToC games fine, inlcuding recent ones like Marvel Nemesis and Devil Kings. I used Nero cd/dvd speed on the images I burned and got few errors, no failures, and a quality score of 97 so I doubt it's the burner or the media. I can't think of anything else to try and I can't figure out why this one game won't even load or give me any "cannot read disc" or "please insert a PS2 dvd" errors, at the very least. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem with Shadow of Colossus Echelon release. I tried it with 3 different media's. And all of them have the same "stuck to swirling lights loading screen".

Can someone help? Maybe this game is protected??

hey there buddys i got that same file from echelon and it works great the only thing i think is bad is the brightness and contrast in some points of the game is very dark and in the main menu it is very bright.other than that the game is great and the animation perfect.try burning at 1x.

What kind of DVD-R's are you using?

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, etc.

If that doesn't work try rebuilding:

A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. Games over 4.38GB's will need rebuilt. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip.
