Hi I am using the Plextor 716a DL burner and One Click DVD copy to burn DL DVDs onto Memorex DL media. I have burned about 4 movies and in each one toward the end around ch 14-17 the playback freezes and in all my dvd drives/players says it cannot read disc. Usually this happens in a chapter toward the end of the movie. If I skip it the rest is usually fine although it happens more than once on some dvds. Please help I have also tried burning an ISO and then writing it and same problem.

I am having pretty much this same problem. I was thrilled to finally be burning DVD-DLs and have been crushed to find this happening on every single one. I even went so far as to get a different brand burner and went and got a third DVD player to try. No success. However, the discs play fine on the computer drive. Apparently, stand alone players aren't happy with the DL media, but other people on this forum are seemingly able to do so. I hope there is a solution. Let me know if you have any luck.

dvdborn and imax70man,
I think is the dvd media that caused the problems. Stay away from memorex dvd media and use verbratim DL media instead. Make sure that your Plextor 716a DL burner has the latest firmware.
I am not favour of using one click dvd although I have it on my pc.
Why not download DVD Shrink from this forum and with AnyDVD on the background nothing is impossible.
You can download AnyDVD and clonedvd2 in this forum with 21 trial days.
Right now in the dvd market burning software so far the best are AnyDVD and clonedvd2.

I might not disagree with it being the media except that the discs play fine on my computers DVD drive. If the disc plays on the computer DVD fine, the disc is OK, it's just that the standalone players don't like it. Perhaps another media might play better on the standalone player, but I get the Memorex for half as much s Verbatim. Also, a using Shrink as well as AnyDVD and also Nero.

have you tried "booktyping" said DL media before burning? i am SURE the Plextor drive has this ability, i just don't own a Plextor to give you the step by step plays.... :)

if you booktype your DVD+R DL media, this will ALWAYS offer MORE compatibility on your stand alone players...just a thought, i believe this can be done using "Plextools" or something along those lines, i don't own a Plextor, so my "wording" might be wrong, but i KNOW 100% that it can be done~

booktyping is making the dvd+r/dvd+r DL media into the highest compatible format of dvd-rom~ :)

good luck

Besides booktyping, I strongly suggest using DVDDecrypter to rip in ISO mode then burn in ISO mode.
I have had excellent results and no compatibility/playback issues on my 7 year old Toshiba 3109 with this method. Heck.. the player doesnt even recognize the single layer backups but loves the DL backups of the same movies.

Well I switched from one click DVD to DVD Decrypter to make iso and then iso burn to burn it with DVD FREE running in the background. First two attemps nice copies but still froze sometime in the movie. Then I burned only at 2.4x and below..Successfully burned sin city and star wars 3. Worked flawlessly. So then I try to use the same method for the sw3 bonus disc and assault on precint 13 and I get a dvd that is all messed up freezing with green lines everywhere on both. (using both memorex and verbatim media) actually after I burned these I put in the original sw3 bonus disc in my dvd drives and still got the green lines. It was not until I turned off DVD FREE (which takes off copyright) that the original worked fine. I tried burning without DVD FREE but I get the whole green thing again.
