because its fancy free app that does actaully what it says on the tin mode/iso/write
and without looking at the settings you have on Alcohol 120,there could be lots of things wrong,
i.e problems with the virtual drive/you may have multisessionn ticked(if it has that option)
i only use Alcohol 120 for ps2 games

remember.Alcohol 120 is not a bad app',

always turn off anything you are not using(internet security/internet connection),basically free up as much power as you can

burning a disk takes up a lot of resources, and can push a average pc to the limits
do regular de-frags
and burn at the slowest speed you can,(if you have problems)

and of course it goes without saying, only use top quality dvd disk's

good luck, and good to see it worked for you :)

All my PS2 games backups are done by DVD Decrypter, and they're all flawless.
