i have recently purchased a standalone hitachi dvd player. i am having a lot of troubles in getting it to play vcds
it states on the front of the machine that it will play these discs but on trying i am having no luck.....
i have one copied disc that will play for some reason or other. can somebody please help me to make a working vcd....... i am recording mpeg1 files. i have tried nero//winoncd 3.8 power edition//adaptec easy cd creator......no luck with either.....
my machine must be able to play copy discs because it plays one that i got.......do these vcds have to be self booting?????

There are normally three factors that may cause certain VCD/DVD players not to play VideoCDs correctly. First one is the recording speed -- try to burn the VCD with lower speed, like 1x or 2x (takes forever, I know, but give it a try anyway).

Second issue is the CD media itself -- try various blank CDs, like Trax, TDK, Kodak, Samsung, etc.. This helps in certain cases -- just like it does for some PSX backups.

Third and probably most common problem is that you've forgot to select "Close CD after burn process" selection -- CD works nicely (or not so nicely) with your computer's CD-ROM drive, but normally DVD players can't handle discs that haven't been closed.

if you have one that worked run it in your pc and see what you have in your files i have same problem i have cdda cdi karoke mpegav segment vcd but i only have files in mpegav witch it says music? also i have some in the vcd folder but nowhere eles i dont know what im doing wrong but can you check yours and tell me if this is the same problem and maybe someone can tell us what we are doing wrong thx in advance.i noticed in the ones that worked there is a image file in the cdda cdi is that what the dvd players reconizes? pls help
