I cannot backup Bewitched with either Recode 2 or Shrink. Recode locks when trying to read the DVD, and Shrink gives me an error about invalid navigation structure??? Any ideas?

Just loaded DVD into drive, waited for green arrow, clicked it and away it went. I didn't have anything running in background. It went through just fine for me.

Use DVDFab Decrypter (free) instead of DVD Decrypter. That'll solve your problem. Fab will rip into a DVD folder the video files. You can then use Shrink to do whatever.

I checked the CSS Keys in AnyDVD and Bewitched does not show up. Sounds like Slysoft needs to do an update.

Long story short,

DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are no longer updated, this means that they will not work on any new protection.

DVDFab Decrypter and AnyDVD are still updated.

So, 1) Use AnyDVD with DVD Shrink. 2) Use DVDFab to rip the files to your hdd and then use DVD Shrink.

I remember from the old DVD Decrypter forums they said to never run AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter, why i'm not sure.

"ARccOS? is the first and only available digital and dynamic DVD-Video copy control which effectively prevents unauthorized DVD copying on PC. ?Our customers are pleased to finally have found a copy control solution for DVD-Video that protects their content successfully."

When I use DVD Decryptor first, shrink wont let me open the files. I also cant burn the files using Nero that Decryptor creates because it makes like 20 IFO files?? I've had this problem before and I never could figure it out.

Look, as I pointed out earlier, DVD Decrypter won't work for everyone for whatever reason. Instead of messing around use something that will work for this title, DVDFab Decrypter.

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdf...

It's free and works when DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD and the others don't. It's a "go to" tool as a last resort.

And like I said if using decrypter and AnyDVD together check elby cdio in decrypter and also uncheck the check for structure protection for the two programs to work together. They will work and they will shrink after. Good luck

New build with goodies

Slysoft is fine, you haven't ripped Bewitched yet therefore it isn't in your CSS files. Only the movies you rip are there.
(If you take just a second to read the CSS page, it says "Achives".)

INVALID CONCLUSION !

DVDD is still very capable of ripping every encryption out there

As I posted on another thread ~

To Tune DVDD,

Tools, Settings, select the I/O tab, lower-right corner, and "tick", "Ignore Read Errors."

I remember on the old DVD Decrypter forum they always said don't use AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter
There was an issue with 1 version quite some time ago, But, to my knowledge, it has long been corrected.

I have been running AnyDVD with DVDD for 2 PLUS years without a problem (except the one I already noted).

There have been issues with DVD43 and DVDD, again, adjusting DVDD should help with that issue. DVD43 continues to have problems though.

Bewitched can be ripped with DVDD, DVDFab Decrypter and AnyDVD, all w/o problems.

Cheers,

Pete

Bewitched? No Problem using CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD, main movie. backed up with no compression. Perfect! Locks Nero Recode 2 up. As usual for Sony/Columbia movie. Again, CloneDVD 2 saves the day! Completed in about 20 mins. Start to finish. Perfect playback too!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Simple solution is to re-author the movie. The ARccOS protection is found in VTS_02_1.vob chapter 1 cells 14 & 15.

Launch DVD Decrypter in IFO mode and Uncheck all Cells except 23 & 24 in Chapter 1 of the main movie. The other cells are either empty, ARccOS protected (14 & 15), or have small parts of the lady liberty, Red wagon, & intro credits that are skipped by the DVD player anyways. You will not need a PSL, AnyDVD, or anything else.

It is possible to import the whole disc to DVD Shrink, but one or more of the IFOs will have to be fixed. I do not know what is wrong with them, so I cannot give any help in this area.

If anyone is interested in re-authoring, here is what every VTS has:

VTS_01 - Featurettes section Star Shots (split by VOBID)
VTS_02 - Main movie (IFO mode. No splitting. Uncheck Cells 1 - 22 in chapter1)
VTS_02_0.vob - Main menus - Use DVDReauthor or NuMenu4U. Or split by VOBID then create your own subpictures.
VTS_03 - Zorrow preview
VTS_04 - Davinci Code Preview
VTS_05 - Casting spells featurette (No Splitting)
VTS_07 - Deleted Scenes (split by VOBID)
VTS_08 - Featurettes: Why I loved Bewithed (No Splitting)
VTS_09 - Dogtown Preview
VTS_10 - Stealth Preview
VTS_11 - Rent Preview
VTS_12 - Original Bewithed DVD Preview
VTS_13 - Jimini Glick? Preview
VTS_14 - Open Season Preview
VTS_15 - Zathura Preview
VTS_16 - Pink Panther Preview
VTS_17_0.vob - Trivia Game Not worth the time, but if necessary, Split by VOBCell, then use NuMenu4u to extract subpictures.
VTS_18 - Geisha Preivew

Re-authoring with the original menus can be tricky and take a couple of hours, but if you want a movie only, then only rip VTS_02 in IFO mode. Extract the chapter points by right clicking on the PGC and then selecting "create information file". Then import movie and chapter points into DVDlab Pro and have it create a scene selection and your done. Just compile and burn. No need for compressing.

Other than not needing compression, you also get rid of all the Previews, FBI Warnings, etc... Re-authoring with the extra features is also possible, just you have to make menus to point to everything.

Movie Only with no menus should be possible by Ripping the PGC in IFO mode without Demuxing. Split files every 1 GB. Rename the VOBs to VTS_01_x.vob. Then use IFOEdit to create the IFOs to make the movie work.

Just for info, those who want to do a movie only with no Menu can do it using DVD Decrypter and IFOEdit. Rip the movie using DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. Make sure you Demux the streams and do not split the file. Then create an IFOEdit Chapter list.

After that, launch IFOEdit and select "DVD Author=>author new DVD". Add your files, click OK, and after a few minutes, you're done.

I just tested it out and it works no problem. The whole movie is under 3 Gigs using only 1 audio stream. To get a working original menu, you will have to re-author the DVD using a more advanced authoring program.

I was having bad sector problems trying to copy "Bewitched". After updating my AnyDVD and 1Click (while I was at it)to the latest versions, I was able to copy with no problems. Oddly,it required NO compression in 1Click so I was concerned, but the copy plays perfectly all the way through.

I just figured out how to copy this movie using DVD Decrypter, IFOEdit, and VobBlanker, and DVD Shrink. I would assume this will work for any ARccOS protected movie, even those not released yet.

Also following this method will get rid of all the previews and the main movie will need no compression.

First, rip the main movie with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode making sure to skip all the corrupted cells. Also skip all the empty cells. In this case, begin with Cell 23 of chapter 1.

**For other movies, it is easy to tell by looking at the number of cells in each chapter. Select all of the small cells in a chapter. Then try to decrypt them. You will see Decrypter get stuck on a corrupt cell. Make note of it and then cancel the process. Now try to rip starting from the cells after the corrupt cell. If it gets stuck again, take note and repeat until you are finished with all the small cells. This usually takes a minute or so.

Next rip the rest of the movie in File Mode. Make sure you rip the main movie's menu as well.

***Note back up your IFO's before editing them just in case you screw something up.

Now launch IFOEdit and Open VIDEO_TS.IFO. Click and expand "VMGM_PGCI_UT". Now click on the first PGC and scroll down to the post commands. Edit the command that jumps to "Title 33" by right clicking and then selecting "Edit Command". Change the command to "(JumpSS_VTSM) Jump to Titleset Menu" and select "Title nr. 1" (This is the title number), "Title Set 2" (this is the VTS number), "menu Root". This means after the first VMG will play, the movie will jump to the main menu. Make sure you know which Title the menu is associated with. Use the "DVD play" feature to find out.

Save the IFO and then open VTS_02_0.IFO (this is the IFO associated with the main menu). Since we are getting rid of the previews, you need to make the links from other menus not go to the Previews. This step is only for Bewitched and will be different for other DVDs.

I already know that the menus that have to do with the Previews are in VobID 4. You can tell for other movies by Re-ripping the main menu VOB (VTS_0x_0.VOB) and splitting by cell. Then preview the cells. The Preview menu is in Cell 8 and 9.

Click and expand "VTSM_PGCI_UT" and then click on PGC Menu 7. Scroll down to "PGC Program Map" (approx half way down). Now Delete Programs 8 to 14. Program 8 and 9 are the preview menus (cell 8 and 9) and the rest happen to be blank cells (cells 10 to 14). Save the IFO. This will make the link to the previews go to the "Special Features" menu.

Now it is time to correct the VOBs in VTS_02 and at the same time get rid of any audio files you do not need. Close IFOEdit and re-open it. Now Open VTS_02_0.IFO. Now select "VOB Extras=>Strip Streams" Choose a destination and click OK. After a few minutes you will have a rebuilt main movie. Close IFOEdit.

Now Drag and drop the created files into your main movie Folder. Open IFO Edit again and open one of the IFOs and press "Get VTS Sectors". Then Close IFO Edit. This will correct the IFOS.

Now, it is time to launch VobBlanker. Open your movie. Go down the different VTS and BLANK out all of the Previews. They are in VTS (3,4,5,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,& 18). Next Double Click on VIDEO_TS.VOB. This will open a new screen. Click on Language Unit 1 and then blank out cells: 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6. Cell 1 is the Sony logo that starts out the DVD (I guess you can get rid of this too, but I did not). Click OK and then click on Process. After a few minutes you will now have a rebuilt DVD.

Now, Launch IFOEdit again open a IFO and press "Get VTS Sectors". This will correct the IFOs. Quit the Program.

You will notice that this movie is no 4.99 GB. Time to go into DVD Shrink. This movie will not need any compression. Just compress the Extras and the menus and that's it. Normally DVD Shrink will not work on ARccOS protected discs, but IFOEdit corrects the VOB navigation so it will work fine with Shrink.

The whole process not including waiting times for ripping, processing, or compressing is about 10 minutes or so.

This is just to help those of you who do not have AnyDVD or who do not want to wait for programs to get updated for future releases. AnyDVD or an updated DVDFab is much easier, but sometimes it takes a week for these programs to get updated. Also, this is much faster and easier than manually re-authoring a movie using an authoring program.
