Welcome to AD,

DVD Shrink still works great on most movies, and so does DVD Decrypter. Since neither are being updated anymore, there is DVDFab Decrypter and DVD43 which can handle most new encrytions, and they are both free and you can download them from this site.

DVD Shrink- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
DVD Decrypter- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
DVD43- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm
DVDFab Decrypter- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdf...

As for a 1 button backup, I don't know of any but DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are not hard to use at all. Read the guides in my sig.

But if you insist on paying for progs to do the job that the above mentioned progs will do for free, then try ANYDVD and cloneDVD. They both are available for download from this site as well and they have a 21 day free trial. Oh and I think they cost around 30 buck apeice.

ANYDVD- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/anyd...
CloneDVD- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/clon...

Happy burning!

You'll still have to have DVD Shrink to compress those DVD-9 originals onto single layer DVD-5 blanks.

For me: 95% of my original rips are by using DVD Shrink and burn with Nero 6.0.0.21b. You may have to set still images in unreferenced materials folder from time to time. That damn little kid in green shorts, LOL

4%, AnyDVD by slysoft will handle these.

1%: Mainly lords of dogtown, had to download dvd fab decrypter express/activate anydvd/compressed with dvd shrink/and autoburned with Nero. That was a royal pain in the a** encryption, but just a taste of what the future holds.

Anydvd, about $40 and is updated regularly. Also does cd encryptions. No extra step is involved.I leave it shut off until the need arrises. That's one program that I will advise on purchasing.

Dvdfab decrypter: Free, works like dvd decrypter's file mode.

Dvdfab decrypter express: Worked great on my dual layer lords of dogtown as well as my main movie only fuji +8x yuden000-T02.This also runs $40,but only had to use it once during the free trial.

Still haven't come across the little kid yet.

The only thing I have on my PC is DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and DVDFav Decrypter. I was only trying to offer some options, I guess it could be a bit overwhelming though.

I was just poking fun, because DVD Shrink won't handle all of the encryptions out there.

It's only a matter of time before daman1 runs into one of those problem encryptions. Here's some of them:

Hey saugmon? Why are you using such an ancient version of Nero? There's got to be a reason right? And what's that "b" at the end, I've never seen that in a Nero version before.

Why, After successfully using that oem 6.0.0.21b: I tried updating it and left out the IN cd packet that is usually recommended to leave out. It burned ok,but I couldn't get my +rws to erase. No option for it,so I had to use my spare pc to erase them.

I then used nero cleantool6,a must have program,to completely rid all files of nero off my hard drive. Then re-downloaded my OEM disc and all is well.

I have no clue what the b is. This oem disc came with my I/O magic 16x drive that is a rebadged benq 1620.Works well for me,so I stick with it. I also have an OEM 6.3 or so in my backup pc,which burns at 100% success rate.

I do get well over 99% success rate,as well as copy dvd-5 backups on the fly with my setup.Only 1 burn coaster this year!

Many members recommend updating nero, but I see no need for it. Sometimes you have to use the cleantool and re-download it.

I have sonic, but takes 5 minutes longer on disc to disc copy. I also have copytodvd that I want to play around with that autoburns with dvd shrink.
