Hey guys, I just recently joined this wonderful forum, and I have to say thanx to all those who provided help cause I learned a lot. I ran into this forum wanting to know about burning movies, and now Im burning ps2 games!! lol

ok, but my question is.....how do you know when a game needs to be patched, like for example some older games might say it in a read-me file, or an .nfo, but what about new games, how would you know if it needs to be patched, or rebuild or watever?

thanx guys!

ok, so it would be ok to say only a small percentage of games need to be patched/rebuilt?

also, how would you know if a game has to be burned to a dvd-r or dvd+r?

The DVD-R or DVD+R really depends on what your ps2 prefers, most ps2s have no probs reading DVD-R. Rebuilding games is usually done when you find it wont load or work correctly when you just rip the iso.

I have backed up about 110 games so far and the only one needed to rebuild is God of War and Gran Turismo 4. Rebuilding is not necessary if the game is a DVD5. Tiger Woods 2006 is the biggest DVD5 game I have at 4.37Gb (4,689,734,592 bytes) and it works fine with my magic swap 3.6

Version 1 PS2
Fliptop lid
Swap Magic 3.6
NEC 3250A 16x DL burner
Tayio Yuden 8x Media

drankakeg,
that is not exactly true.
I have done many games myslef. and there are some that need to
be rebuilt or patched or have dummy files replaced. It is a
small percentage, but there are some. But only for Swap Magic
If you have a good mod chip you will not need to do it.
Take Total Overdose, try burning that and playing it with
Swap Magic. It will not load past the loading screen, It must
be rebuilt. Also BloodRayne2 & Mercenaries.
