DivX& AVI files WON'T play on a stand alone home dvd player(maybe soon). Your best option here is to use DVD2SVCD (if home dvd player is SVCD compliant). Look at your home dvd player and see if you can locate the format(s) it plays. If you see SVCD, then it will play SVCD format. If you don't see this then take a close look at your remote and look for the "PBC" funtion. if it's there then most likely your dvd player will play SVCD format. VCD quality sucks so I'm not going to even mention to convert to VCD. Click the link and follow ChickenMans guides on how to convert avi, divx to SVCD.
