Hello all,

First post, but I'll try to fully explain my prob.

I received some dvd's in a trade and tried to rip them to send them on. I usually use DVDShrink even though they don't need to be compressed as it's usually fast.

It wouldn't rip any of these 3 dvd's (which are just rock concerts, some with menus some without). I tried Alcohol 120% and DVD Decrypter which both failed. I'm using an LG DVD burner.

DVD decrypter gets to 74% and then gives me this error [IMG]http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b389/foolsfortune/Rip%20errors/...

Oddly, the discs all play fine on my Lite-on standalone DVD recorder and do not play at all on my Panasonic DVD player. They are Ritek DVD's and are clean and scratch free.

I'm downloading DVDFab Decrypter right now, but if that doesn't work, what else can I try? I'd like to recover these discs and re-burn them myself so that I have good copies of them.

Thanks
Mike

Hey Mike your pix didn't show up so you should try it again. Make sure you get the end tag put in for the picture:
[img*]picture url[/img*] (leave out the "*" and make sure you have it in lower case letters)

K, let's try this again. If it doesn'twork, you can always got to www.photobucket.com and search foolsfortune. There a folder called DVD rip errors.

The DVD's I'm trying to copy are DVD-r's of concerts that I received from a trader.

Try Isobuster. It's supposed to be good at this sort of thing:

http://www.isobuster.com/

You could also tell Decrypter to ignore read errors:

Tools -> Settings -> I/O tab and check the "Ignore Read Errors" box.

That works on occasion if you only have a very small bad area on the DVD.

Even though the disc looks perfect, for whatever reason your reader cannot see the data correctly in this sector.

You may even want to try using a different drive to read with. Burners are not the best readers. Many cannot even read discs that were burned in them.
They are getting so cheap online now that it is reasonable to get one.

it looks like the backup movies you got may have been copied poorly. no program can copy them to the hd because your burner cant read them too well.try setting the read speed on DVD Decrypter to a low speed to see if they can be read.

are you using a usb dvd drive to read them?

to increase the read capability of your dvd drive you could make sure it is set to dma mode and update or reinstall your firmware.
