I have been using DVD Shrink for the last 7 months, and have had no troubles until about a month ago. Basically, DVD Shrink used to analyze the DVD in 30 minutes, then took another 25 minutes to burn it. Now it takes DVD Shrink 90 minutes to analyze and 40 minutes to burn.... and when this long process completes, the DVD skips! I only use Sony or TDK disks so I know it's not them. I have also tried Blaze DVD, CloneDVD, AnyDVD, and DVDFab, and everytime any movie dvd is burned it skips. I took my computer into the shop, and the people told me my drive was fine and that it was a software issue... any suggestions??

Have you checked if your DMA is enabled? After a few read errors Windows will reset your access mode to PIO which is a lot slower.
Skipping DVDs is usually a media issue. Especially if you are not getting error messages during the process. What makes you so sure your media is not a problem? Have you tried other media like Ritek, Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden?
What burn program are you using with Shrink? If you use Nero, please post a burn log:
C\: > Program Files > Ahead > Nero > NeroHistory.log
Be sure to remove your Nero serial number.
You did not mention DVD Decrypter so I'm just making an assumption about Nero. You have to use some program with Shrink to burn. Shrink cannot burn on it's own.

I have tried many different companies... and they all used to work.
And as for my burning program.. DVDshrink IS burning my disks. First I compress the file to my hard drive, my drive opens, and I put in a blank disk, close it, and it burns.
I just tried using DVDDecrypter, and it seems to be working ok, but I can't figure out how to compress the file. After I wrote the file to the hard drive it was still 8 GB

DMA:
Go into device manager/locate IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers/open up that tree. You may see 1 or 2 primary channels and 1 or 2 secondary channels. Open each channel up,click advanced settings and they should be DMA/UDMA/DMA if available or UDMA if available.Make sure they do not say PIO mode.
If you find 1 of those channels in pio mode, uninstall that channel and reboot. If you have more than 1 channel, uninstall 1 channel at a time and reboot.Assuming you have windows xp,it should re-install those drivers automatically and hopefully go back to DMA or UDMA mode.
Dvd decrypter has 2 modes. Larger DVD-9 movies like that one you posted that is going to blank DVD-5 disc needs to be ripped in file mode to hard drive.Keep track of where that folder goes and the name on folder.
You then open up DVD Shrink, locate the ISO folder and compress like you'd do any backup using DVD Shrink.
For DVD-5 backups or DVD-9 backups onto dual layer media, use DVD Decrypter in Mode ISO read to hard drive. Then Mode ISO write/locate the mds file/open it up/ok/and then click the burn-harddrive icon and that's all she wrote. This mode is for a 1:1 compression.

Media quality is the usual culprit. You can also throw in too fast burn speed/multi-tasking/fragmented hard drive/ and dirty laser lens in a stand alone. With all those programs, you pretty much ruled out a software issue, but the dma may be contributing to it.
When you get the skipping on playback, how are you viewing them?
Stand alone player or on the pc? This will help narrow it down.

@klubbhead hi :)
i'm sorry but i must take you to task
Quote: DVDshrink IS burning my discs
as fasfrank has stated shrink IS NOT a burn engine .so you must have some sort of burning programme you are useing
i'm afraid to say that if you ignore advise from ppl like fasfrank, and don't come foreward with answers to the questions posed, then the responses you recieve will be few and far between

Thank you for everyone that helped!! I finally got it working thanks to the advice of saugmon. I still have no idea what the problem was, but everything works great now! Thanks again!
Oh... and by the way... after Shrink was done analyzing the ISO file, it automatically started to burn.... not sure what program is doing the burning though.

Just after starting your backup in the DVD Shrink part/click backup. The backup options screen pops up and there you have Select backup target. You sound like yours is set similar to mine, which is set to my benq 1640. This will autoburn with nero/copytodvd/and DVD Decrypter.
To tell which one you are using, open up dvd shrink/edit/preferences/and click File I/O. You'll see a box that says enable burn with Nero.If it's ticked, then you must have Nero on your pc,if not, then likely DVD Decrypter or CopyToDVD.
I have all 3 and Nero works near perfection. This is where many peeps think DVD Shrink has it's own burn engine,NOT! It can autoburn using those 3 programs.
What took care of your issue? DMA in pio mode?
Crappy Media?
Too fast burn?

It is really easy to tell what program is burning. Everytime you select "Backup!", The Backup DVD menu opens. Click the dropdown menu and it should look something like this:
