I've been using Maxell DVD-Rs (MIJ MXL RG03) for a while with no problems. But I was rather dissapointed when the MIT Ritek G05s came out due to the mixed reviews they were getting. Tried searching for the MIJs to no avail. Then I was at Wal-Mart and found 100 Maxell DVD+Rs MIJ Maxell 002. Decided to give them a try and they're great. So now I'm a - to + convert. Should I no longer am able to find the MIJ +Rs what are the Maxell DVD+R MIT like?
Ritek-R03. But I can get the same ritek-r03 media on office depot +8x media. They are on sale this week, spindle of 100 for $30
No trouble with ritek-r03 on both maxell and Office Depot +8x media.Only a price difference! They do perform the same as my hitachi maxells/MCC-003/and Yuden000-T02.
Even though the Maxell "M.I.T" (Ritek G05) is a good media, I , on the other, prefer the Maxell "M.I.J" (Maxell002) better. I guess "Made In Japan" is what I go by and I must have got used to it by now.
Every backups I burned, I did a scanning test with Nero CD-DVD Speed with both Maxell and Taiyo Yuden media, and the quality of them are on the same level. Very few occasions, the Maxell are just slightly a little lower, but both of their picture quality is awesome when playing on my stand alone dvd player.

Usually the maxell taiwanese and japanese spindles will be mixed together. I do get the MIJ ones, because the price is the same as the riteks. I haven't seen too many good maxell sales lately.
I have burned about 100 maxells in the last month about a 50/50 split between MIT's and MIJ's. I can't tell the difference in playback. Both great media. I would buy either, but look for the MIJ first.
Won't have to buy either for a while though cause I just got a hundred ty's :-)
