Hi, I see there are so many dvd ripping softwares out there, but which one keeps the quality just as high as the original DVD?
I am noy looking to copy movies, just the mini dvds that i have on my camcorder....so I need to change the VOB's to any kind of file, but i stress THAT I NEED THE QUALITY TO BE EXTREMELY HIGH...the reason i say that is b/c if i change it to an avi file, it's poor quality...does MPEG change maintain the quality, or is it poor as well??
thank you all in advance

Why would you want to change the format of the mini dvds? Note that mini dvds work exactly like regular dvds, except that they are smaller. So you can just rip, author, and/or copy them by using any popular video programs (e.g. Decrypter, Shrink, Nero).

well besides the mini dvds...my best friend films at weddings and christenings and whenever my family and I had parties, i ended up adding special effects, etc. Thats the reason why i really wanted a ripping software which doesnt affect its original quality
thanks

In that case, try ImToo DVD Ripper, my personal favorite:

Happy DVD editing!

actually i bought it last night, but i didnt get the chance to rip any dvd's yet...i saw that the MPEG1 format and MPEG2 formats are available.
i was led to believe that video CDs are poor quality...is that the case or is the quality the same as the original DVD?

Did you buy Imtoo already without trying it out first? Quite unnecessary. But it's your call. *_*

Due to its limitations (e.g. resolution), VCD does not enjoy the same quality as dvd. But vcds made from dvds will still be very good when shown on tv.

so i guess my original question applies...which software rips out a dvd without affecting its original quality?

If you intend to rip a dvd to e.g. AVI or mpeg2, then ImToo would do a pretty good job. But if you want to convert to VCD (mpeg1), then the quality would be affected. That is because of the format, not the converting program.
