Sorry if Im being noob by asking this but, do all PS2 DVD Games need to be rebuild b4 they can be used with SwapMagic? or is it only the DVD9 Dual Layer Games...?

Because I downloaded Dragon Quest VIII Demo, and Iw burned it with both Alcohol 120% and DVD Decrupter, but still it doesn't want to load it... Iw used both SwapMagic DVD and the CD version of the boot discs, but still it doesn't want to load it...

The Demo came as a .iso file wich is 1.7 G and a .mds file... and Iw used the lowest speed possible on both Alcohol and DVD Decrupter... but still Swap Magic doesn't want to load the game...

What am I doing wrong?

How did you burn it? Did you select the MDS file only when you were loading it into DVD Decrypter? If not then do so....actually i'm not too sure about that because i use alcohol %120 for MDS's...but i think so.

And no not all games need to be rebuilt all DVD-9 games yes, there might be a few non-DVD-9's that need it. I don't think Dragon quest does.

Thank you for replying

Actualy I first burned it with Alcohol 120% because of the .mds file, but it didn't work, so then I used the DVD Decrupter and there as well loaded the .mds file only, without any success... maybe I should burn the game at 4x speed and above? cos Iw been using 1x and 2x and it's not working...

And honestly Im kinda suprized that it isn't working, becouse this is just a demo... there isn't anything complicated involved...

I mean when I burn the game, the windows can read it and the inside looks like a PS2 disc that has all the regular files that a PS2 disc usualy has, I mean there isn't any big sign that the disc was burned incorectly... except for the fact that Im not able to load it with SwapMagic...

I don't know, maybe something is wrong with the .iso file or Im missing a important setting adjustment when bruning the iso...

Im reading all the posts here related to my problem maybe there is a solution just waiting for me to read it...

Eather way, any help is apriciated...

i will further say that most games do not need rebuilding.
Only about 5% of the games out there need to be rebuilt.
But it is a good processs to learn, and surely would not hurt
anything if you do it to all your games. That is if you do it correct. it is just extra steps and more time spent.
Nero Burning Rom and ISO buster is by far the easiest way to
rebuild stuff.
