If DVDecrypter can take out the security code and duplicate a DVD and it is free, what's the point of using Nero? What's the point of breaking it into files wherein our ultimate goal is just to have a duplicate copy?

I cant see your point, if you're happy using DVD Decrypter, which does as you said, then why change?. I am sure nobody here is advising anyone to change a winning formula.

No...my point is, I have seen quite a few thread wherein people are having problems duplicating a DVD using paid softwares like Nero, etc wherein free DVDecrypter does it quickly.

Is there any valid reason that I dont know why people will rip DVD into hard disk as files(not ISO) and then put it on a blank DVD?

I guess that most newbies dont have the obvious skills that you possess and that is why we are here.

I am a newbie...remember my first post asking directions? Now that I can backup dvd with DVDecrypter alone....and it is free....I am asking if I am missing a point why others use a more complicated approach(i.e. multiple software/steps) to backup a DVD.

I want to know as I have the Nero bundle....might as well use what I paid for

I guess you can use whatever you are comfortable with, if you can use both DVD Decrypter and also Nero then you are further advanced than most newbies. If you strike a problem at any stage just shout and I am sure someone will assist you.

DVDDecrypter can break MOST, but not ALL encryptions. That is why people suggest AnyDVD, DVD43, DVDFabDecrypter, etc. Also, DVDDecrypter does not compress (encode/transcode). That is why people suggest RB/CCE, Recode2, CloneDVD, Shrink, etc...

Different people have different needs - none of these systems are cut and dry all of the time - everyone should utilize what they feel works best for their needs

I like the combination of DVD Decrypter + Nero Recode 2 + Nero Burning Rom (99% I use it for burning dvd movies). I prefer DVD Decrypter for burning all of my PS2 games.

My other applications/programs that cracks or decrypts the encrypted protections besides DVD Decrypter are DVDFAB Decrypter and DVD43.

Well DVDDecrypter can't compress so you also need DVDShrink, I use Nero because it came w/ my litey and I have the option to burn automatically w/ shrink. Nero can burn other things like music and data cds. there is also Nero recode. I mean there's a reason why it's the top dog in the burning industry.

gwendolin - I think sometimes ppl post thinking that there are only a few things that can be done - usually because they really are unaware of what is REALLY out there and the capabilities of so many diff programs ... and of course - as I believe you stated earlier - thats what the forum is for - so ppl can come together and discuss several issues.

Personally - this forum has helped me with plenty of ideas - some brand new - others just "additional" knowledge - and judt when I thought I have everything figured out - BAM!! ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW *L* - that would be good bad and the ugly stuff *L*

I use:

Dvd Decrypter in file mode to rip the files from a dvd

CloneDVD 2 to edit out what I don't want (trailers, anti piracy ads etc)

Then Nero 6 to burn the files, I prefer Nero 6 to burn because it is much more reliable, I have never had an error with it.

gwendolin,

Dont need the forum - I found where i could look up threads by username - YOU PROVIDED ME WITH THAT - I put it in and whammo! It came up - I saved the page so I can take a look at it - I am not real good in that particular area so it may be a while before I am "updated" with my new look *L*
