Saw some FujiFilm discs on sale and heard good things about Fuji dics.
Also, are Office Depot DVD discs considered good? They have a pretty nice deal right now.

Can you clarify? The only reason I ask is because I have read on here so many good things about Fuji DVDs (as long as they are the TY made in Japan) and I saw some FujiFilm blank DVD-Rs on sale for 17 dollars for a 30 pack.
I also heard that Best Buy has 20 packs for under 10 bucks, but this is Fuji not FujiFilm.

no offense Glitched, but WTF are you talking about??? Quote: Fuji is a company that makes the cd and fugifild is the same but the company uses it to transfer photos to a cd
@phatferd...
the dvd media you see at local stores that are either Fuji or Fujifilm are the EXACT SAME THING...at least for ME locally, all the media that i have purchased thus far are under the "Fujifilm" label..i think MANY people here just say "Fuji" for short, when it IS in actuality "Fujifilm"~ :) and yes, the 8x DVD+R and even the 8x DVD-R are BOTH Taiyo Yuden made, IF AND ONLY IF, you find the "Made In Japan" ones~ , the "made in taiwan" are DEFINITELY NOT Taiyo Yudens~ :)
secondly, the office depot dvds are GOOD quality, assuming that your setup/system likes Ritek manufactured media, on MY setup, i have NO PROBLEMS with Ritek, but as everyone knows, computers/burning processes/setups are ALL different, so what works for ONE, may NOT work for others...the 8x DVD-R RitekG05s work VERY well for ME personally, others complain, but for ME they work great~ :) personally, if getting the 8x DVD+R format, i would get the Fujifilm 8x DVD+R made in japans, being YUDEN000T02 coding, you can't get much better than that~ :)
good luck, hope that clarifies a bit~

Last week Best Buy was running a sale on Fuji -R/+R. All of the spindles were made in taiwan. I looked at every one of them for the MIJ codes but couldn't find any (went thru about 40 spindles checking each one). I went ahead and bought one spindle of MIT fujis. They coded out as Ritek G05 i believe (am at work so going on memory). They were Riteks but i am not sure if they were G05 or G03 code.I guess the Riteks are ok, but i was looking for MIJ so those same discs would have been genuine Taiyo Yudens. In the Fuji example, the tubs are different on the MIJ. I think they have a grey spindle and the MIT have a black spindle.

Yep! These should code as ritek: Ritek-G05 in the dash 8x and Ritek-R03 in the plus format with the speed rate of 8x. Sweet media. It's a nice sale this week-30 cents each,but a few weeks ago they really had a great sale that was even cheaper-25 cents.
Fuji 8x speed media, There are lots of tys on both formats if you search the spindles carefully for the MADE IN JAPAN.
What format you looking for phatferd?

I tried a pack of the Fuji 8X -R, and they were coded FUJIFILM03. I only burned 2 Discs on an LG GSA-4163B and they had CRC errors throughout. These discs were Made In Taiwan. They were a hell of a deal though.....25 pack for $5.99 Candian!
I took them back and found an old pack of Maxells....100 for $24.99 CAD!

@xtlee - chances are you've got something wrong in your burning setup. it'd be wise to investigate that instead of buying different media..always pays to sort out the underlying cause first...

I don't think so, I've burned almost a thousand discs with almost no coasters and all of a sudden with new media I have problems? I am back to Maxell Ritek discs and they work just fine at any speed. Oh, and yes I am up to date with the firmware etc.

those fujifilms DVD R's are absolute junk, you can see lines all over all the DVD R's in the light and i had to burn at least 6 coasters untill i got a perfect burn, most of the time i got loads of blotches where the DVD R did not burn properly. dont buy these peices of junk! i am changing back to maxwell soon! maxwell are the real true A* media.
