pst phone programmer 6.7 general

I installed this programmer pst 6.7,which came with a cd with ringtones,wallpapers.my problem is my phone is a motorola v276 and when i open this program i am unable to communicate with my phone.at the top tool bar most of the icons are grayed out,which makes them unacessible.i have searched numerous threads looking for answers.most links for upgrages or patches are dead links.i am useing a usb data cable,my operating system is xp service pack 1.
