No offense Marik1234 but you were just here a week ago not knowing what booktype was, which is fine b/c I started below you, so you probably haven't experienced a sale yet.but you just wait till SMS.com has one of there sales, then you'll see.
And WTH is it w/ you and taxes? Are some sort of militia guy who has a garage full of guns for the "revolution". It's just taxes get used to it. Newegg pretty much never has any sales so you go ahead and stick to newegg and ther incredible free shipping and taxes.

I was gonna go out tomorrow and get the Fuji's at Best Buy, are the Verbatim's good? I thought they were a hit or miss because some are CMC?
Also my burner tops out at 8x....If I buy 16x media would it still work in my burner?

Fuji is fine and so is verbatim, jsut make sure the Fujis' are MIJ (made in Japan) Verbs are MIT (made in taiwan) but that's fine, one of the only good taiwan made media .The thing is that Verbs and Fuji MIJ are really Taiyo Yuden so I prefer to get it staight from teh source. Another thing is that you really can only buy TY's online. and watch out for fake TY's. Supermediastore.com, rima.com, and meritline.com are all certified TY dealers. But if you want to buy in bulk wait till they have one of there sales.

Personally, if I have a choice, I'll go with the Made in Japan Fujis or Sonys over Verbs.Taiyo-Yuden made media seem much more reliable & the playback quality seems better too. Verbs are Great Taiwan made media. But I prefer Made in Japan.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

I dont really care about shipping charges, just the time, thats why i love newegg, warehouse in NJ, i live in NY, they get everything to me in a day for $4. :) Thats why i love them. And i already bought stuff at sales on Staples, when 50-packs of Sony CD-R's were on sale for 8.94, i grabbed 2. They're nice as hell for media made in taiwan. If u compare stuff at stores to online stores, i think ull easily see too how theyre a ripoff, thats why i only buy from newegg and RITEK.
And btw, i found out about booktyping when i was burning the new budokai game on a RITEK manfucturered Dynex +R in DVD Decrypter, i just went to options and i saw booktyping and i set it to DVD-ROM for next write and changed it like that...its really easy...just got to know what it is, then i can find it myself.
Heres an example of a ripoff, i bought a 100 pack of RiData DVD+R's on newegg for $26 and got a free 50 pack of ridata 52X 700MB CD-R's...for $30 incl. shipping. Much better than any other deal out at any store. Who doesnt buy online? I mean, people always think its not safe or something, it is.

First off DVDs and CDs are not teh same thing. The ppl at SMS.com have admitted that they can't compete w/ store prices. People come to them cause they can be trusted and they are certified Ty dealers. I think most ppl here will agree w/ me that RiData is not on par w/ TY ot Verbs (which is made by TY). I always get my shipment within a week, like 3 days. And I always order a 100 pack once I get to 10 left over. I know you knew WHERE booktyping, cause you didn't ask how to do it.
Quote: No offense Marik1234 but you were just here a week ago not knowing what booktype was
Nowhere did I say you didn't know how. But you know what it's the same difference. I also said that you were too new to know what a sale at a store is like. so don't judge yet.

It all depends on your burner's firmware. With the newer 16x media, you may have to download the latest update.
16x verbs: I haven't tried them but they should be very good. I know some/maybe all are made in Singapore,so don't be bummed out about that.Still high quality media using mitsubishis specs for quality control as well as the metal azo dye!
The cmag verbs were on some of the verbs in the 4x speed.Either media life or data life. Look and make sure they say Data Life Plus.
I haven't heard of any cmags on the 8x or 16x speeds, but only time will tell if that holds up.
Fuji/sony yuden000-T02 and MCC-003: I'll burn those all day long on any given day! Excellent quality media,99%+ success rate!

More than likely cmags or phillips in those HP blank media! UGH!
That's one brand name that I definitely stay away from.28 cents apiece is still too high for cmag media.
My 2 cents!

saugmon...
Suggest you rethink Philips. The 16x -R are coding out MCC03RG30 sold both in the UK and US. Believe Videohelp would confirm that. Personally, I have burned a number of them without a coaster and they show good scan under DVDINFOPRO.... Texas Outlaw

I know CD's and DVD's arent the same thing, who doesnt? But the point is...its still better to get an extra, free pack of CD-R's manufactured by Ritek, isnt it? Better than nothing and at no charge, even if they are CD's and a 50 pack, there are still uses for CD's...audio, video, archive...and so on...

I just went to OD and they only had the Verbatim +16x on sale for $34.00. No 8x verbs of any kind in there.
I did pick up a spindle to try out in my new benq and they code as MCC-004: Made in Taiwan.
Quote: Suggest you rethink Philips. The 16x -R are coding out MCC03RG30
I didn't think TDK made 16x media.
He was talking about HP media on sale at staples, not phillips brand! The phillips brand of +2.4x and majority of +4x are cmags. Then throw in the phillips Mid codes on the rest of the +4x. The higher spead phillips: I have no clue.
I'm like kivory666, no need to bother with the dash format because my booktyped plus backups kicks their a**,in stand alone compatability!
CDS? I keep them right next to my floppies and zip drive discs, LOL
