I have now gone through 4 ps2 controllers and it is really annoying (and expensive). They all seem to break and the controller always locks to the left and makes cars/people/guns/anything move to the left in continuous circles - sometimes firing wildly and doing tricks. I dont know what to do with it because I dont know what is wrong - Is the controller port that is wrecked or the actual controller ( I have used 3 made by madcatz if that helps)

hmm, you take care of your controllers and set them on whatever surface with the analogs up? or you just throw it when you are done playing, because ive had a ps2 for like 5 years, and use the controller i got with it, no problems, lol.

No i place them down on my ps2 when finished - i think maybe the problem is the third party controller i have - im trying it with another one and im gonna go out and buy an official sony one
I have thrown them down once but i dont know if that would be it because i threw it on my bed...

i have had that problem once before all i did was unplug the control and plug it back in and it worked
whan you get the official control if it doesnt work i would say your ps2 controller ports have had it
i have a bit of madcatz stuff i have a multitap a control and a dvd control for ps2 and i have never had any problems

Often times they don't beta test third party peripherals with console systems. I.E. Sony will test official Sony Memory Cards and Controllers with the PS2, but not MadCatz or Performance, or Logitech, etc. This can lead to compatibility problems with third party peripherals. It's usually better to get the official Sony stuff, sure it's a little more expensive, but it could save you money down the road.

Okay - ive bought a sony controller and its working fine for now - lets see how it goes but it lasted longer than the 3 minutes of playing the game....

haha but sometimes 3rd party stuff is better. as in price.. i had the madcatz controllers for the original playstation and them things were great! and right now i have 3rd party multi-tap and 3rd party mic.

I got a MadCatz memory card, had it for 2 years and its still working perfect!

That's cool. To be honest I don't know that much about PS2 third party peripherals. They may work fine. I am going more based on the original PSX where several people had problems with third party memory cards and the like.

Ok thanks everyone - I bought the sony one and it has been working perfect - thank god - lol. Anyway i think ive started a bit of a madcatz debate - hehehe.
