Thanks darthnip well that kills reading the boot code theory. Unless there is more than one pressing (ver) of Max Payne.
Anyone else try it?

jr i think you might be on to something with that theory - I had a similar problem with spongebob. It loaded fine and went to the main menu but when i went to "new game" it red-screened. So maybe that game does it, anyone else have success with spongebob?

I have backed up a few game that play well. But I always get a blue screen? The games work fine ( as far as i have gotten in the games) but i wonder whats to come deeper in the game . Will it freeze at a deeper stage in the game.I use record now max(global image) and i have a verbatim dvd+r/rw burner and use verbatim dvd+r.What combination do you guys use software and media type to get good burns. (red screens when booting) . One more thing does your flip top ps2 magnetic(The round piece with the white magnet you put in side the lid during installation) piece stay up in the lid our stay on the laser compartment and you have to remove it everytime you change disk.
Thanks

Every game i have tried I have gotten a red boarder time to time, mainly because I didnt get the game all the way in the system. I have a HP 300i 4x DVD+RW drive
I used dvd decrypter for DVD games
normally nero for cd based games
Always use fuji dvd+r disks for dvd games
and sony or memorex for cd games
All the games that boot i have played for hours with no hitches later in the games.
As far as the little white piece, during the install that goes into the actual flip top.

Hope that all helps

i know the white piece goes into the round piece in the fliptop. But my question is when i lift my fliptop the black round piece(that has the white piece inside stays down on the disks) Is that right or is it suppose to stay connected to the fliptop lid.

you shouldn't have anything from the original lid except the white magnet hub, no black piece. make sure the white piece is up inside that hole in the lid, you gotta tilt it in and pop it in there then it will stay in the lid. what version PS2 do you have and what version of cover did you get? If it's coming out and staying on the disc you probably got a version 1-3 cover on a 4-7 PS2. The 1-3 versions had a bigger white hub so the hole in the flip top is bigger.

ok the white piece that came out of my old system is inserted into the ps2 cover lid.
the ps2 lid cover (the round piece i inserted the white magnet thing in stays on the disk when i open my drive.not just the white piece the whole round piece that use too stay connected to the flip lid. I was wondering is that normal. nevertheless it works and I enjoy backing up my games. What do you think is the best burning software.
thanks

yeh if you know how to use a screwdriver...you can install the flip. As for ordering, I have a contact that I can set you up with. Normally around $60 Shipped for the fliptop cover and both DVD and CD boot disks.
PM me for ordering details...ill give you his email.
For install help or questions, keep them to the forum cause other people probably have the same questions you do!

yo, I have a flip-top, but no DVD-R drive. Figured you can backup by downloading CD versions of the games and play them. I own war of the monsters and i downloaded it in CD version and burned it at 1x in CDRWIN. It boots and goes blue screen, but then it goes black and just sits there... =/ Cant try my own since i dont own DVDR, so I guess im SOL or what, can any of you guys download CDR games and get them to work on your flip top?

yea i have fliptop, is there a special way to burn besides 1x on cdrwin? CD to CDR games work. But my WAR of the monsters is DVD and so I downloaded it, and it seems legit, just DVD to CDR so it lights up blue, but goes to black screen and nothing happens... blah?
