I've just fitted my ps2 flip top. my original getaway works fine , my dvdr movie backups work ok, the smart magic v2 dvd disc seems to load but my dvdr backup of the getaway does nothing at all. the insert disc screen appears with a red border. I have not done any other game yet, bt trying it at 1x speed on my pioneer a05 on both pioneer dvdr and ritek, both capable of writing at 4x. any advice would be great

I also had a difficult time backing up the getaway. Tried 5 different kinds of media, but i only got it to work on Imation and Princo. read and write at the slowest speed possible. I actually used nero to make the image, then closed nero and then reopened it, then burnt the image. I couldn't get it to work if i didn't do it that exact way. not sure if thats your issue to, but i hope it gets you going in the right direction. again, if i just let nero make a 1:1 copy, even saving the image to the drive, it didn't work. i had to do the image and burn totally seperate.

Thanks,
Just thought I'd add I tried dvd decryptor and record now and got the same effect. I tried a couple of old ps1 cdr backups and neither of them worked, could it be a problem with my swap magic discs? I'm using v2.0 EUR build. I'll try with fifa 2003 but can't afford to waste too many more dvdr's

i dont think it would be the swap magic discs if you make it to the "insert disc" screen. I had a bad cdr disc and it wouldn't boot at all, but if you are making it to the "insert disc" screen, it seems the swap magic discs are doing their job. i'd try to back-up cd based games until you can figure out the problem, their alot cheaper!!

I havent tried that gamne yet. Ive made tons of backups now though. I need to update my list...
The only problem I had was with Tiger Woods 2003. DVD Decrypter just would not do it. 2 Coasters. Only nero would do it. I think I will be sticking to nero as its still at 100%.

Can anyone tell me whether the flip top method will work with an AR2 V2 or does it have to be swap magic disks?

Hi there.
Wonder if anyone here could help me.
I recently installed one of these flip tops, succesfully at that. I then ordered a few games, 2 of which work, 3 dont seem to want to load. Thing is all these games work on other chipped machines, so the games obviously work, yet they dont on the flip top, which is suppose to play everything.
One of the games that doesnt work actually goes to the pink error screen when the disc wont load, the other 2 go to the blue loading one, but then get stuck on a black screen and wont load.
So, does that mean there is a problem with the boot disc? or the methods of the CD being burned? Or something else.
Thanks for any help

if the boot discs get you to the "insert disc" screen, it's not them. What format are the games, and what version of PS2 do you have?

I guess all i can say is spend 15 bucks and buy the magic swap disks and save yourself all this trouble.
15 bucks isnt much for what your getting. Trust me. Its as simple as making the backup and using the swap disk, and works every time.

oh and i also tried to talk to gameshark to see if they could try to make a swap magic cheating disc or something like that but they said i couldn't do any type of advertising off there site it was against the rules and they also said they couldn't do it because they couldn't mess with modchips or anything of the sort it is also against there rules they said too many people where pirating there games with them so they couldn't do anything about it then i tried talking to the people that sold me the swap magic boot discs they never wrote back after that

I'm thinking of getting a flip-top with the magic swap discs. I don't wanna spend the money on the magic swap if the new version is about to come out, so does anyone have any idea when the new version is coming out??

Yea, 20 bucks isn't bad, but if the new version of Magic Swap is coming out in a month or so, I'd just wait, I'm sure the price would be the same.
