thats cool, the more i read, the more i find that every machione is different and just because one person cant get a certain madia to work, that dont mean it wont for another person. hell my PS2 booted dvd-rw's when i got my first no-solder chip. but i've red that lots of people cant boot them at all.

I am just getting started. Was wondering about import CDs. Do I need the swap magic disks or will just getting a Flip Top work?

Max Payne works for me too all the way through. I make ALL my backups using DVD Decrypter - it's the fastest way.
BTW, I have a Messiah Pro 2. Burned on Ritek's DVD+R media on a Sony DRU-500A - no probs.

the only game that i havent got to work on dvd decrypter is tiger woods 2003...
which works on nero anyways ;)
i should start a website with a list of games succesfully backed up and with what programs work, speeds tested, brand of media...ect...
would anyone use that?

just burn an exact 1:1 copy. you'll have to do cd based games, or get a dvd burner for dvd based games.

Ok I dunno if this is a fliptop or a gameshark issue, but here goes:
I have a US ps2 with fliptop and swap magic. I also have the gameshark 2(version 2). Now, normally I play all my backups/imports with just the fliptop/swap magic discs. I use the gameshark2 only when I need codes... however, the gameshark2 either with the fliptp OR the knife-trick (no fliptop) will not boot my DVD imports or DVD-R backups... and I need the codes from the GS for those imports/backups.
Is this a gameshark thing then? Do I have to rip my DVD import to a CDR in order to use the swap/knife trick to load the game?
If that's the case, how do I go about downsizing the DVD import... it's already at 1.2 gigs, and I can't just delete files since they are in huge "cvm" files.
Edit--
Okay I just read that without a mod chip the TOC limit on booting games w/out a chip is like 630mb... most dvd is way larger. So... I guess as long as I'm depending on the fliptop and no chips I won't be able to load imports/backup DVD thru my GS2?
Apologizing now for being such a noob here... if I had a nice big FAQ to read that explains all this I'd probably figure this out :D

hi, i've been hearing about the flip top for some time, and i was wondering if in order to play a cd-r backup (i'm nit sure about dvd-r's) u have to use a boot disc that is bigger then the cdr u are trying to boot, does this hold true to the flip tops, or just the no solders?

the flip top is pretty much the same, you need a boot disc for cd and dvd based backups. the swap magic discs work great.

I dont think that it is possible to copy splinter cell with a flip top. All of the people that have tried get the same problem.
I have read that the 3.6 chip works (and the 3.1) but havent tested it myself

lol no i havent heard anything on them yet...for all i know it could have been a rumor but i imagine they are working on them. Even if you spent $$ on the flip top on disks, you can just buy the disc's for 19 bucks....
Anyone read my post about the website and if it would be helpful? I havent got any info back....let me know if people would use my idea or not

works with DVD's too. it's nice cause it's already ripped so it's just a 1:1 copy.
