Yeh ok well to do the slimlines,
Buy swap magic and a slide tool they will play back up cd-r and DVD-R.
It doesnt void warranty.
Dvd+r I havent tried but will soon.
I didnt think the +/-R was relevant to reading only writing but I will see.
If you have an old one same solution would work, however, you could put a chip in it or use HDadvance and load games/dvd's from a 300gig HD.As it works through usb ports which the oldies have.I blew the RS IC in my v12 as I was playing around with it like a mad scientist only 35 bucks lol
Also fliptop lids are irelevant all you need to do is glue the switches closed with a bit of plastic and remove the brake.

hi
I just installed the flip top cover from modchipstore.com with instructions from other site... on my PS2 slim V12 ... I had problems with one of the 2 small pieces holded by those tiny screws... but I fixed it (think so) ... So when I turn the PS on: the disc was not rotating at all ... and all I can see in the screen is the browser and setting ...I'd tried with original games, and nothing happens...HELP ME PLZ

If you didnt remove brake for disc you have burned out your rs2004fs motor controll chip. You can get a replacement for 38 bucks but as I did is very hard to install and stuffed it up the things are tiny on slimlines I had double magnification the works and still messed it up.If it wont read disks thats what it is I dunno what youve done but if you didnt remove brake that is what it is.Its stuffed basically and id recomend getting an experienced surface mount technician to replace the chip.

hey, I ordered a magic switch & SMv3+ from ihackPS2. Was able to get all my games backed up except two of em. I learned that slide tool is useless w/a slimline. The magic switch works great; I don't like the fliptop since dust can still get in. Able to close the top of the slimline all the way, so it worked out cool.
One more thing, the PS2 is most compatible with DVD-R discs. Search on AD & you'll see that. You take a risk if you use DVD+R, unless you booktype them to DVD-ROM before burning.

if you're a college student, do NOT settle with the RIAA http://tinyurl.com/37oz2z

Alright, call me an idiot, but I ordered a fliptop and disks from saveware.com on December 15 before reading the very mixed reviews on afterdawn.com. I still have neither received my merchandise, nor heard ANYTHING AT ALL from this loser Don Rieb. He doesn't answer any emails at cart32@saveware.com, and does not answer his phone at (847)850-8533 (his voicemail is always full). Please, someone tell me this guy is not just a total douchebag.

hey guys quick question.

looking on the web site posted earlier (pscover i think)
anyway they list a product called "usb extreme" that says you can use a internal or external hard drive for the ps2, and save them like the x-box.

anyone used this or any comments on it?

Yes you can still eject with a fliptop but if you use the eject button the PS2 will know that the eject button has been pressed.. if you use the fliptop it doesn't know the fliptop is open...

I go to http://www.swapnslide.com it was cool. I ordered the hdadvance and it came in about 3 or 4 days priority and the disks were clean. They also got other stuff on there for fliptops and swapmagic disks.

You can't mofify a 8 Screw Flip Top Cover to fit a 10 Screw PS2, besides missing 2 screw posts, there are other parts of the case that will not fit.

You can find out what version you have or order a Version 1, 2, 3 10 Black Screw Flip Top Cover from this link for $15.95

It's going to be hard to find a Fliptop for a ver 1-3 PS2...
If you really need to mod this PS2 and don't want to get a new one and mod that with a fliptop I'd suggest getting a slidecard...and swapmagic..

I've been browsing alot of the UK Sites for ya and the fliptops I'm finding are for ver 4 and up..

Hi I have just installed the fliptop to my slimline but having problems with it. When I removed the original lid a spring flew out and do not know where it goes, consequently the new flip top lid does not seat itself very well to the switch and it is always restarting. Can anyone advice me where this spring goes and tell me that the problem I have is due to me not fitting the spring. Any advice would be appreciated.

If it's the spring I'm thinking of...all it has to do with is the slim PS2 opening when you press the open button instead of you lifting the lid yourself, so it should be causing you any problems like that...but what the hell do I know...I've broken more PS2s than any man has any business breaking
