I am using a backup of AR MAX with Swap magic but it doesn't appear that my codes are active when I play. I can load the game fine but the codes don't work. This are the methods I've used
1) Load Swap Magic CD 3.2
2) Load Cogswap (special mode)
3) Load Action Replay backup
4) Select code and press eject for game when prompted
5) Put in Swap Magic DVD 2.0
6) Put in DVDLoader*
7) Press eject and put in Swap Magic DVD 2.0
8) Put in game backup
I'm able to load the game but no cheats. I see action replay on my memory card. Any ideas?
* I have also put in game backup instead of DVDLoader at step6 and it loads but no cheats enabled
boot up action replay, choose your cheats, when it asks you to put your game in put swap magic dvd in, then at the swap magic screen put in dvdloader, at the dvdloder screen put in your high toc disc (swap magic or whatever), press x, then at the screen that says "insert DVD-R by ea meathod" remove swap magic and put in your backup, that should work, if it doesn't then maybe it's your cheats that don't work?
I have the same problem.
If I load with SMDVD, the game loads with no cheats.
If I load DVD Loader, the DVD doesn't stop spinning for some reason.
And after loading AR Max and then SM CD, SMCD doesn't seem to work very well. It works only sometimes and te only program I can launch is CD/DVD LOader. All other programs will crash.
I think this doesn't work in the old versions of swap magic.
they're the same versions of SM that i have, it does work, the usual reason that the disc doesn't stop spinning with dvdloader is because you have put in your high toc disc but not pressed x, if you get the message "insert DVD-R by ea meathod" the disc will stop spinning.
step-by-step
1, choose cheats then choose start game (or whatever your cheat disc says)
2, instaed of your game, put in swap magic
3, at the swap magic screen swap in dvdloader
4, at the dvdloader screen press eject and insert a high toc ORIGINAL disc
5, when the message in bottom left of screen says "ps2 dvd" press x
6, at the screen that says "insert DVD-R by ea meathod" swap in your game disc
that should work, if it doesn't go through it again to make sure you're following it to the letter, if it still doesn't work try another game, not all games will work with this meathod, also make sure you're not trying to use a NTSC game cheat with a PAL game or vice versa
dammit, I bought Swap Magic 3.6 thinking that was the problem and it's still the same. Now I'm thinking I may have an old version of CD loader.
Edit: Wow, I just got it working. Thanks for teaching me how to use DVDloader, I didn't know you had to press x after inserting the high TOC disc.
But do you want to know what the problem was?
The problem was that I couldn't get to the screen that says "insert DVD-R by ea meathod". When I pressed X, the message was "error while validating disc" or something. I think the original game I was using has a higher TOC than Swap Magic DVD, that's why it wasn't working.
I was using the Devil May Cry demo, and it doesn't work.
I tried with Xenosaga Episode II Disc 1 and it worked perfectly.
