I apologise if this is an ignorant question, but I can't seem to find a guide that covers this.

I'd like to build a HTPC and have most of my DVD collection stored on the Hard Disk. What would be the best way to do this? All I want on the HD is the main movie files and preferably compressed to maximize the number of movies I could store.

In the most Downloaded section the first 2 are all you need.

DVD Decrypter - Is one of the most used decrypting programs out there. It decrypts almost any movie and backsup in file or Iso mode.

DVD Shrink - is an excellent video compression tool it as well has decryption capabilitiees but not as good as DVD Decrypter. Use DVD Shrink after you have used DVD Decrypter.

Be sure to read and understand these guides, especially the setup and config sections, or it will only lead to more questions.
