Well before I even see your model number I can tell you one problem already, You use TDK media. Swtich to either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Fuji and Sony are fine so long as they are made in Japan. RiData and Maxell are fine as well but teh Maxell have to be made in Japan.

I think your problem is that you are using wrong media, you have -RW burner should be using -R or-RW discs. I'm confused exactly what type of blank discs are you using.

If you have Nero Smart Start you can go to "Get system Info" it takes a little while to load but it will show you all you need to know about your burner. Sorry tmej you came in while I was typing with one finger. You have this one covered so I will butt out. Cheers

No worries. I was actually trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone with my post.
1st bird: Brand and Model # of burner
2nd bird: What his current firmware version was

@fordave, Nero is one of the best in my opinion, if you're downloading movies from the net, most are avi then it will burn them. The prog I use almost all the time is NeroVisionExpress, all I do is open prog, open file and drag into NVE and follow prompts, usually works like a charm....normally you DONT need to convert. Did you update your firmware as suggested.
