Hi,

I hav a PS2 V9 that has been mod chipped. I am having probs getting game to load. Iknoiw the game is good, as I have played it many times. My prob is that sometimes the game will load straight away, and other times it takes many many tries at rebooting to get it going. Am not sure what chip has been used, but it is a "No Swap" chip. Have tried all combinations that I can think of with regard to holding resetb until it goes into standby mode etc.

Can anyone help me, or at least tell me what chips are compatible with V9 so that I can search for them??

first off you should know what kind of chip you have.
That is very important in someone being able to help you.
If not there are only 2 ways to find out
1. ask the person who did it
2. open the PS2, find the chip, and look for writing on it that may tell you.
Without that no one can really give you boot up instructions or
much help because there are too many different kinds of chips
out there and each one works a little different

Steimy,

Have opened up the box, and it is a Messiah chip.

On it is written "Messiah 4-2"

Any info would be helpful, although as I am not a total leech, I will do some searching for myself.

Thanks.

not sure if this will help or not
but here are the boot instructions fo a Messiah 2

Messiah2

PS2 CD/CDr/DVD/DVD-r : Insert the disc and close tray. Hold reset to power off to standby mode. Let go of reset button. Tap reset button quickly, to start.

PSX CD/CDr and DVD movies: Insert the disc and hold reset for a few seconds to turn off the PS2 (standby). Turn the PS2 back on by holding reset until the blue light on the eject button lights up.

You should always turn the PS2 off (standby) for a few seconds before changing between modes (PSX, DVD, PS2 - copies and originals).

To turn the modchip off (to play PS1 games that may detect the modchip): Turn off the PS2 (go to standby) and hold reset for at least 5 full seconds. The next time you reset the PS2 the modchip will turn itself back on.

Thanks for that Steimy, however now that I have put the machune back together, I am getting no signal to the TV. The unit powers up OK and seems to be operating normally, but no picture.

Any thoughts as to what I may have done wrong ??

No picture, no sound. As if the PS2 was not even connected to the TV. Disc loads and spins ok.

no clue on this one. But my guess would have to be that a wire
got disconnected while you had it open. could just be something
small and easy, but there is an awful lot of things inside that
little black box, so there is no telling where to locate what
might have broke loose.
