I have a movie that seems to only have the audio as DTS. My Nero showtime reports it cannot play DTS without some additional hw or sw.

Is there any program to convert the DTS to normal audio?

Is this a movie that you happened to Backup? If so you may just need to push your audio button to cycle to a different audio.

OR are you saying you opened your brand new movie - put it in the player - and no sound ...?

Brand new movie I have never played before. The only available audio tracks are DTS.

I've never heard of this before. What is the movie's title? I like DTS soundtracks, a lot!
If you can't play a DTS track, and that's all there is, take it back and exchange it. It should say on the back of the package, what soundtracks there are.

Usually all you have to do is DL the software listed in the pop up when you try to run a DTS audio file. I have never clicked on it, and mine plays those types of files in stereo. I think DTS drops down to stereo if no DTS drivers are present. I think the conversion is done automatically but i could be wrong about that. I know the DTS files listed in shrink are usually much larger than the regular stereo files. DTS is supposed to be a competitor to Dolby 5.1.

Here is what AD says about DTS:
Quote:
DTS is a private company that develops audio formats, pretty much like Dolby. With term "DTS" people generally speaking refer to DTS's digital surround audio technology that is used widely on DVD-Video discs, just like Dolby's Dolby Digital/AC3.

I've been searching threads looking for an answer for you. This thread fixed an audio problem:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/250921
Everyone seems to be talking about the need for a DTS driver but no one was listing one.
Finally:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/240462
A link to a DTS codec is listed. I haven't tried it, as i am not having problems with DTS.

Ok, enough searching for me. Check those out, and see if any of that helps.

What the original poster could mean is he ripped a DVD and only specified DTS for the audio stream. I did this recently and when I tried to play the disk in my car dvd player I didn't have any audio. The car system doesn't support DTS at all. The same disk plays fine in the house where I have full DTS compatability.

I much prefer DTS to DD.
