Online play and the PS2 Mod Chip

When people who have a Mod Chip in their Playstation 2 wish to participate in online gaming with other PS2 users, are they able to?

Can backed up games be used for online gaming or will PS2 detect the Mod Chip and ban the user?

I dont think they can ban you, i get this problem alot, what happens is.. Before you go into a online game, it does a DNAS scan, if your chip is enabled you will most likely fail the scan, or will get some BS error, if you can play your backups with your chip disabled, you can get away with it, but im still trying to figure this one out myself, the only possible ways i know to play backups online, is having the "Crystal Modchip" or having "Swap Magic", but you will still have to get DNAS Codes and patches for all of your backups, i have also tried turning off my ps2 and playing the games online from my Hard Disk Drive, but its hopeless. yes, that is what i think too. For online you would have
to disable the chip and use swap magic and a fliptop/slidecard
and patch the back up game for online play.
I have also heard that is only true for a few games, but have never really been able to confirm that since i do not play online at all.
