Hey guys,

I searched the forum but nothing returned about making your ps2 (the big one) and PStwo (slim)regiocode free? Does anybody have an idea about this? Is it simple (no modding or changing discs?).....

do you mean to play backups of games or movies- if games then use swap magic disks as they are cheaper than a mod chip but do the same job as a modchip.

I dont Know about multi-regional, i know that when i used my original PS2 (V5) - i think, i was amazed it could play DVD-R, DVD+R DVD-RW burn movies.
I think it can play multi-region, i seem to remember something about region settings for the drive? I will check that up.

If you have a modchip it will play movies from different regions but if not you can purchase AR Max to play them.

i think it depends on what you use to burn them.
There are burning programs that you can make the movie
Region Free before you copy them.
If you are talking about originals then a mod chip would do it
for sure.

But, isnt a PS2 already DVD Region Free?
As wozza_b stated, that his plays American and the odd Jap films.

If anyone can, please test to see if there PS2 can play different region DVD's and post your results here!!!

I'm 80 percent sure they don't let you play movies from different regions unless your PS2 is modded (correct me if I'm wrong). Either way, Steimy's solution will work.

Nelswick is right on this, a normal, unmodded ps2 will not play dvd's from other regions than it's own, you'd need a dvd regionfree disc, an Ar Max, or, like steimy said, a modchip to play those.

I do remember there was some sort of trick to make some of the first ps2's region free, but that only worked with the earliest Japanese and American models.
