Hey this is quite a weird question. Its about the FIFA Series.
When FIFA 06 came out, did anyone else notice the name change?
E.g FIFA FOOTBALL 2004
They got rid of the word Football and shortened 2006 to 06.
FIFA 06 is a great game. Anyway just thought I'd post this and ask if anyone else noticed this!

Fifa 06 sounds better IMO. I'm more of a Pro Evo fan.

It's all about marketing. You have to bear in mind that prior to the World Cup being held in America this was not remotely as popular a sport as it is now. Whereas "football" is the most popular sport outside of America (and no one refers to it as "soccer"), in the US the task to make it a popular sport and regain the support of the public has been a major drive by the actual FIFA organization. Companies like EA Sports have played a role in increasing the popularity of this sport as well and now that it is a recognised sport they can now use a more familiar brand name. It only goes to show how much the sport has grown in the US.

Fifa 06 is a cracking game EA are trying to make changes to there game play.Although Pro evo is still the best around i believe EA are making more of an effort to make changes to Fifa where as Pro evo as good as it is bit dissapointed with the latest release.Seems Pro evo is maily hoping to sell on its name.I think Konami have now made enough off the game to put a proper licence on and give us the same authentic teams and stadiuams just like EA.What do you think?

I haven't got Pro Evo 5 but I have all the previous ones and there's only a few teams which are licensed.

I reckon by faaaar, the ISS Pro Evo genre dominates over the fifa football games because fifa just suckz in all aspects of the game and iss is just sick, extremely realistic in the way Iss is played.
Just something Fifa won't be able to accomplish lol

I would not bank on that dragonz17 EA games are getting better all the time with there games and have some of the best titles out there.What EA are trying to do is make a different type of game play
than that of Konami.If they wished to use the same type game engines i'm sure they could come up with something very simular to that of Konami but there not.There trying to find the own top notch game engine.Yes pro evo is far superior with there game engine but it is EA who are making all the improvements where pro evo seems to be standing still at the minute.

Definetely PES5. I have played fifa 06 on my mates ps2 and I have got PES5 on my pc. PES is just too realistic. Fifa has better gameplay, but Pro evo has the all round 'football feeling' :)

Yeah, but at least you can edit the team names if it really bothers you. On the new PES only Arsenal & Chelski are licensed in the Premiership. Haven't used any teams outside the Premiership yet. Just off to play for a bit. Definetely worth getting..

The only thing FIFA has got over Pro Evo is the official license for teams, players, stadiums etc. Pro Evo's gameplay is so much more realistic. Mind you I do find the editing on Pro Evo fun at times.

Now if we put Fifa and Pro evo together using pro evo game play and fifa for official teams and stadiums we would have one hell of a game.

You could apply that theory to many things
barcelona & chelsea, for example.
It's kinda good to talk about football, usually all you hear about here is Hockey! :)

Yeah, I remember back in the day over here in the states it was always like "FIFA international soccer '94". But as far as soccer games go, I was always a fan of winning eleven.

there are various patches on the net, for ps2, xbox & pc, that give you all the real team names & kits, and stadium names.
and boy, is it good :D
