okay so i backed up tony hawks american wasteland, sims 2, dbz, and indigo prophecy on verbatim dvd-r at 2x speed using nero... they have worked perfectly for a week now and they suddenly started to freeze and become slow now. what could be going wrong? plese help.

Sounds like you need to clean your laser, or the media wasn't really that good. I used Verbatims at first too, and just like you they worked for a bit then just stopped. Switched to Taiyo Yuden's an no problems now. But, try cleaning the laser, this will help a lot of times.
