It seems there are many uncertainties about the ps3. I read one thread that says one thing then I read somewhere else the exact opposite, so for that reason I was hoping you guys out there could help me distinguish facts from fiction. Here is what I would like to discuss:
1) Will the PS3 be backwards compatible with ps2 and ps1 games? I believe so as all the specs I have read support this, but other people on the thread "ps3 modding" have told me no.
2) Will the PS3 be able to play DVDs and CDs? Being that PS3, I believe has chosen Blu-ray as their drive type, can the PS3 do it? I know that Blu-ray is using a blue laser as opposed to the red laser of dvd and cd players, so will the PS3 be equipped with both blue and red lasers? or can the blue laser also read media made originally for the red laser? My belief is that it blu-ray drives cannot read regualr dvds and cds so in order for the PS3 to be able to play DVD and CDs it will need two lasers. Hopefully you guys will be able to figure this one out.
3) Will all games for the PS3 be High Definition Games? My belief is NO. I believe only the developers which choose to will be HD. The others will stick to DVD or CD games.
4) Will a High definition game only be able to be played if you have and HD TV? My belief is NO. I think the games developers that make HD games will also include standard definition version of the same game on the same disk allowing you to play a HD game on a standard TV. You will however lose the hd picture if you do so.
These are just my opinions so if we can discuss this it might clear things up and put an end to some of the rumors out there. If anyone else has any things about the PS3 they are not sure about post em here and hopefully we will clarify the facts and squash the rumors.
2 wrongs don't make it right, but it damn sure make us even!
