Hi, anyone know of ProDisc now using legit MCC discs? Check the first review here: http://www.supermediastore.com/prodisc-8x-dvd-r-white-inkjet-47gb...

If these are legit Verbs then this is a good deal.

No, the sad truth is that all of us have been duped, even those who think they are getting genuine Verbatim MCC03/04s. I just realized this recently that even the logo Verbatims stamped with the MID "MCC" could still in fact be produced by Prodisc or Ritek. Sort of like the sick relationship Ritek and Ricoh had where Ritek sold DVD+Rs with MID of RICOHJPN but were actually making them themselves.
I bet you these big name sellers like Verbatim, Memorex, etc. (and sellers, not manufacturers are all they are) have a good laugh at consumers while they play their mind games. First, you couldn't tell by the name brand label who actually made your discs. Now, you can't even tell by the MID code. The only sure-fire way to tell is by the serial number stamped on the disc hub. What's the point anymore. I'm just stocking up on the old 8X Verbatims and any RICOJPN 4Xs I can find because regardless of who actually made them, they work for me. Trust no one. The truth is out there.

Thanks, DogBomb. Everyone's always looking for the deal of deals, but it's probably just safer to find a reputable seller and stick with their TY or Verb media. Rima has always been good to me, and I've been completely duped by cdrdvdrmedia.com (meritline) with fakes. I keep having to remind myself that peace of mind is more important than saving $1.50 on a 100-stack!

Dogbomb makes a VERY valid point, seems like these days the only way to actually tell is by verifying the serial on the inner hub (or actually, just outside of the hub)...saving a few bucks on "shady" media is always a lose-lose situation for YOU, the consumer...you just don't know for SURE 100% what you will receive...with the rampant FAKE Taiyo Yudens out there these days, this is only the beginning for MORE smaller companies to join the fun and produce FAKE xxx media IDs, FAKE manufacturer logos, etc..etc...

the pursuit of the ever powerful $$$ is all these companies care about, they could care less that media "works" or "doesn't work" for anyone out there, as long as they get PAID...

this is the kind of thing i see discussed at cdfreaks whenever i visit there. it's all very confusing as to who really makes what anymore. due to some of this constant uncertainty as to who makes discs from week to week is one reason why i bulk buy in much larger amounts than i used to (lately i can't move for 'Verb TY' discs but i'd rather have tons of the good stuff while it's out there. it is getting very tricky to advise ppl on media when the companies play these games, let alone to know what to buy for our own consumption..
