Is it recommended? I recently bought some Sony DVD+R's and was wondering if there was increased compatability or any downsides in changing the bitsetting to DVD-ROM instead of DVD+R for backing up data.

Hi Gins,

I don't know about any downsides as I am new to this also, but I have found, with help from the forum, that by bitsetting my DVD+Rs to DVD-ROM my media will play in just about any player. I have a very picky standalone recorder that I was having trouble getting compatible media for and bitsetting was the only way I could get my media recorded on my computer to play on the standalone. And it will also play on my family and friends players also. Hope that helps.
