Ok i am new to all this, i own a usb cable, psp (2.0) and 1gb card
Ok for example if i was to download gta lcs or metal gear solid could i just put them on my memory stick and play away.
What exactly is homebrew. what does it enable you to do.
And can i play thoese games without homebrew
if i get homebrew can i still put those games on

First, to run homebrew apps, you have to downgrade to v1.50. Then you can load ISO that you download by using the homebrew apps.

ok.think of the word homebrew as homemade.it is anything that is made by someone or some team that is not an official source (sony,rockstar games/ea games/countless other companies that make psp games etc).basically homebrew is any program that is not 'supposed' to be or was not intended by an official source to be run on the psp.this includes,emulators and roms (yes,you can run various emulators and roms on psp.if you dont have a clue what they are they are basically things that let you run old console games such as snes games on your psp),iso loaders/launchers,countless other useful programs such as pdf viewers,media players etc.
you own a psp,a usb cable and a 1gb card so you already have all the hardware that you need in order to start loading games onto your psp.and yes,you can just put games onto your memory stick and play away.though note that gta lcs is one of if not the only game that is currently impossible to do this way.i could explain why but you probably wouldnt care.you basically just need to wait until someone figures out how to do it before you can play it via iso.
HOWEVER,as roadkille has stated,you have a v2.00 psp and you need to first downgrade it to 1.50.then all you have to do is download fastloader or umd emulator (google them),put them on your psp and you can start loading isos onto your psp and playing them.to downgrade your psp,follow this tutorial:http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about7938.html
once you have downgraded,this tutorial will tell you all you need to know about getting emulators and roms and and fastloader/umd emulator onto your psp and using them to load isos of psp games on your stick.http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/212141

ok just one more question.
I have noticed that a gta lcs is up for downloads, its a umd rip.
can i download that drag it to memory stick and play?
oh and if i download iso/homebrew and downgrade can i still play new games that i buy?

GTA:LCS is the first in what will very likely be the start of v2.0 ~ONLY~ Games. That is unless S0NY prefers to go all out on us and go v2.50, on us. Then you can not use Homebrew or any kind of ISO Loader with anything over v1.50.
As for GTA my understanding is that the Media Files **can be read** off a v1.50 just fine. So no running GTA on a v1.50 is not a simple codec that needs to be installed on / with v2.0. But, rather in the way that the entire Game has been encrypted useing the v2.0 Firmware and v1.5 is not able to decrypt those File(s) again.
So TO MAKE THIS AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE...
YOU CAN NOT PLAY GTS:LCS WITH A PSP v1.5!!

like i said in my first post,gta is NOT playable on 1.5 (1.5 being required if you want anything homebrew) the reasons of which ichijoe has explained.so at the moment,if you want gta,ya gotta buy it and upgrade to 2.00.there is no way of playing gta from iso (yet) because you need 1.5 to load isos and 2.00 to load gta.

last question.
i upgrade to 2.0 i buy gta, i can play any game i buy.
what about movies, can i download a movie convert to psp format drag to memory stick and watch?
oh and can u play quick time or wma, or DivX on your psp.

AFAIK; All of S0NY's Firmwares are backwards compatible. So no you should have no problems with your somewhat ~older~ Games. (The PSP has only been out now for like what Three whole Months! WTF old Games), lol.
As far as viewing DivX I do beleave you need a Homebrew App for that. The PSP however can display both the .mp4 (Video) 1.5 & 2.0, and the h.264 (Video) 2.0+ ONLY!!, CODECS.
You'll need to either purchase a Program like PSP Vidio 9, or something like it, or get it by other means, by all means. ;)
This Program will rip your DVD's, DivX, AVI's, QT & WMV File(s), into the mp4 codec that the PSP needs to display Video...

Once someone figures out how to gain access to the Kernal instead of the User Executable Space, then anythings possible! But, least we forget v2.0 is about as much use now as v1.5x was like a Month ago.
As it is now Games, that are pooring out for the Hollidays are going to be 2.0 only. Like GTA:LCS, Hustle the Streets of Chicago and SOCOM Navy Seals. I think we can expect to see S0NY dish us out Games that will force us to update to v2.50, sometime early next Year...

ISO - you can only load with a loader
HB2.00 - Not yet fully, but startin
DIVX etc - Homebrew, yes
GTA - no its encrypted
HB - ONLY (for now, fullyness, not someworksomedont) 1.5. NOT 2.0.
ISO - yea the others will work with a loader BUT NOT GTA
BTW - I DO NOT SUPPORT ISO LOADING (but i just do it anyway FOR NOW cos i got fired and i cant afford to buy [blod] K? [/blood] ill go legit and delete the games i dlded and by the same games once i can afford em just need sthin to play first) BUT I DO tell ppl how to use em.
I was told to change my sig so I did this.
