cpu doesn't like my ps2 HDD anymore

I had a maxtor 120GB using the free version of hdloader patched .07c i think it's called. I've transfered games by putting the ps2hdd into my computer many times but decided to try it by FTP. Well I couldn't get that work so I just stuck the hdd in the computer and ran hdldumb and nothing happens. The program loads but I can't see it ( you can see it in the task manager) and it loads perfectly w/o the hdd in there. WinHiip (i think) does the same thing.

HELP!!!!!
