Hey folks I know I am new to the boards for posting, however, I have been reading alot of the post already and learned some things and tried out solutions. Now I guess I will give my experience with back-ups.
I just bought a LiteOn DVD-DL Writer (+/-) about 2 months ago, to my knowledge it supports every format of DVDs out there. I also purchased a Flip-Top/SwapMagic3.6 for my PS2 V12 Slimline.
So far for the PS2 games I have made backups on both Memorex and TDK (both formats are up to 8x and only allow a minimum of 4x). The software I have been using has been a combination of (Nero6.6 + AnyDVD) or DVD Decrypter 3.5.4 (been using this one lately).
For awhile now it seemed to all be working fine up until 2 days ago. And seems to have got worse. When I try to play most of the back-ups I get an error stating they are invalid PS2 disc. Overall I have 3 games backed-up on Memorex and 10 games on TDKs.
-Memorex
Predator Concrete Jungle
God of War (relinked on 1 DVD)
Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks
-TDK
Need For Speed Underground 2
*Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
*Delta Force Black Hawk Down
*Colosseum Road to Freedom
NBA Jam
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
Dark Cloud
Prince of Persia Warrior Within
RPG Maker 3
Soul Calibur 3
The games with an * in front of them are games that used to work perfectly up until 2 days ago, atleast to my knowledge. These games mostly have been played from a cold boot of the PS2 and the only game played until my friend and I called it quits. So it could be a heat issue as to why I am now receiving this error and knowing about it since I have been trying to play the other games after I have been playing the previous one.
It is boggling my mind, I have tried using my laptop cooling pad under my PS2 lastnight and the PS2 ran cold all night but still had problems. So it seems it has evolved from a possible heat issue into something else. So I have tried cleaning off the laser with a quetip (spelling) without any success.
This morning as soon as I woke up (PS2 been idle for hours) it will not even read ANY of the back-ups on TDKs... however imediately after trying with failed attempts I use SM3 and a Memorex back-up (say Mortal Kombat) it accepts it and plays in under 2 seconds of pressing X.
I am almost leaning to say it is the TDKs being hard for my laser to read now, however, I have read alot about TDKs being superior over Memorex.
Later tonight after work I am going to my friends house and will see if my TDKs are going to act up there or if they will boot without problems. Just FYI though he has I believe PS2 V5 with modchip swapping methods.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated as I am almost out of patients and thinking of buying a PS2 V11 or under and getting a no-solder chip.

EDIT vvvv
Forgot to mention that also after playing the PS2 for awhile and trying to play my DVD Backups with failed attempts off the TDK brand. I tried loading with the SM3 CD to play some PS2 CD Games and they play flawlessly as well as the original disc. So it does seem to be atleast narrowed down to PS2 DVD Back-ups, not CD-Backups.
