Okay, here's the deal. I'm burning with Verbatim DVD-Rs, with isos downloaded off the internet with DVDDecrypter at 1x. For some reason, over the past month, my booting has been incredibly spotty with a DMS3Lite. The only burnt disc that the PS2 boots with regularity is Fire-Pro R burnt on a TDK, yet any other backups on TDK media were complete failures. I've cleaned and replaced my laser. I'm about at the end of my rope when it comes to fixes that I have found on this site and any others and I am wondering if there is anyway that you could possibly help me. Thank you.

Does it boot okay with a game backed up from an original you own, or do you only get this on downloaded games?

I'd try burning at a higher speed, like 4x on the verbatims and see if that makes a difference.

What happens when you do try and boot it up? How far does it go? Is it just a blank screen or what?

The game will be recognized at the browser screen. After selecting the game, the game will either go to the PS2 screen or not, but either way, most of the time it will continue to stay a black scree that you get inbetween the PS2 screen and the booting of the game. I've practiced mostly on backups, but most legit copies are working. At times, legit copies will not load in a similar manner (most trouble with Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII).

Okay, after burning the game at a higher speed, the game will be recognized, hang at a black screen for about 20 seconds and then I'll get the "Please Insert a valid PS2 dvd" or something like that screen.
