I am totally frustrated with these CIRC errors.
I have copied a ton of dvd's using DVD Shrink (v.3.2), and have had no problem until now.
The last 2 that I tried to backup didn't go through due to CIRC errors.
I researched CIRC and ended up finding a few links to answers on this forum...figured out CIRC means the disk is dirty or scratched. These disks are indeed scratched, but not to the point of being unreadable.
I found one post describing how to extract the files using DVD Decryptor (v.3.5.4), but that didn't work. I finally gave up. But today I am onto another DVD and experiencing the same problems as I did with the other DVD.
I decided to post and see if there was anything more I could do to get these copied. I tried to locate the post I read in my browser history, but didn't find it. This post talked about making your own batch of Disk cleaner, but these aren't my disks and I don't want to ruin them.
Hmm..I know you guys like a lot of details in these posts, so I'm trying to think of anything else I have done to help myself.
Here is a step by step process of what I have tried.
First DVD:
-Open DVD Shrink, analyze DVD.
-Analyzes all the way through.
-Compress it a bit, click Backup
-Starts encoding, gets about 60% and get CRC error.
-Try DVD Decryptor
-Choose ISO/Read
-Get CRC error on the one VOB file it can't read
-Try the DVD Decryptor settings for troublesome disks someone here posted
-Get CRC error on the one VOB file it can't read
-Try copying files directly from DVD to hard drive
-Get a "cannot read G:/" error on the one VOB file it doesn't like
Second DVD:
-Open DVD Shrink, analyze dvd
-Get CRC error about halfway through analyzation
-Try DVD Decryptor, Using the same settings saved from the first disk
-ISO/Read
-Get CIRC error
So on both disks, there's one VOB file that is unreadable.
I did not watch each dvd all the way through, but each one started up in a player.
Hope someone here can help me!! This sure is frustrating. Thanks in advance

that was the page i was looking at last night for help with CIRC! i followed all of scuba pete's instructions except for the disk cleaner recipe. it's not my disk and i feel uncomfortable putting a solution on it.
so i guess the disks are just too scratched

There are these things called CD/DVD Doc, there are many diff brands, that REPAIR dmged disc, you can try those. I have heard nothing but succes stories about them, worth it in case you have a future CRC error on a disc. YOu can buy tehm at blockbuster or some electronic store. You don't have to put any solution on or anyting.

In my experience everytime I see a CRC that means a scratched/blemished disk. I then set DVDD to ignore all read errors and let it go. I usually end up with a disk that has a little "bloop" where the scratch is. Thanks for the link :)

i tried ignoring read errors. it didn't work
the disks don't physically look beat up. i've seen worse. how come they are able to play just fine, but i can't copy them?

You really should try the DVD Doc, it's about 20sdollars. But what you really should try is the thing that Scuba Pete reccommends, he's one of the best here at AD, I'd believe anything he says (about dvds) almost blindly.

If you are going as far as blockbuster, why not ask them to polish and or buff your discs for you.Most video /dvd outlets these days have there own equipment to do that kind of job.Well i know mine does and i use there service when my discs get scratched

You could also try to rip it with DVDFab decrypter. Sometimes this works on tough discs.
