What's an I/O error and Why Am I Getting It?

I'm an extreme newby so I beg for anyone who responds to this question to have patience with me...my computer has Windows XP, my DVD burner is a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R5002. I downloaded DVD Encrypter and read through a guide explaining how to copy a DVD. I installed the program, restarted my computer, put my original movie in the DVD burner, started the program, and clicked on Mode, ISO, Read. Everything went fine and the movie was saved on my hard drive. I took out the original movie, put in a blank DVD_R disk, selected Mode, ISO, Write. The movie started to record on the blank disk, then bammo! I got an I/O Error! This is exactly what it said:

I was asked to click on Abort, Retry, or Ignore

The log file said: Failed to read sector 990352-Unrecovered Read Error.

What Did I Do Wrong?

I clicked on Retry, but same thing continued to happen. I finally aborted and came straight here.

Either there is a read error on your hard drive or the disk you copied had a protection scheme (likely the latter). Try installing AnyDVD (www.slysoft.com with a free trial) and rip the original movie with DVD Decrypter again. Unless the disk you're ripping is only a single layer DVD5 or you're burning to a dual layer disk, you'll have to use DVD Shrink to recompress or reauthor the original. Then burn.

I had the same problem before. It could be the disc he's right or the hard drive.But is your power supply over 400w?
If not it could be the power supply.
Cause I had to take out a couple of drives so it can give enough juice to the burner.
But then I just bought a new power supply
and that fixed it.

Unless your original dvd is 4.38 gb or less (most are larger nowdays) you will need to run it through a transcoding app to compress it to fit on a DVD5. I recommend ripping it with DVD Decrypter in file mode and then running it through DVD Shrink open files. You can then burn with either DVD Decrypter or Nero depending on what you have and prefer. There are some guides in my sig. Since you already have it ripped as an ISO you can open DVD Shrink, click on file, select open disc image and locate the ISO.

To get past the encryptions you could also download DVDFab decrypter (free). But as laddyboy recommended AnyDVD is excellent.
