i burned a dvd a nd it worked on my computer, but wont play on my home dvd player, did i do something wrong ??

You will have to give us more info than that..what format is DVD + or - R. Some DVD players prefer one over the other.

sorry, i use DVD+R and my home dvd player is about 5 years old

Only thing I can suggest is that your old DVD player doesn't like burnt copies... I pegged mine out and bought a newie and it plays anything.

I also think it's cause your player is new, but what exactly would make me more credible than her. You could try booktyping, which will change your booktype from DVD+/-R, which can't be read by the older player and gaming consoles, to DVD-ROM, which is the universal booktype and should work in all players. However not all burners can booktype.

No biggie but you can only booktype DVD+R media not DVD-R media to dvd-rom.

First we need to know the make and model of your dvdrw drive to tell if it is capable of bitsetting/booktyping and we'll go from there.

Your drive is capable of bitsetting. I will pm arniebear and ask him to join in since he has a plextor 716 and will know the easiest way to bitset with it. I'm sure it can be done with DVD Decrypter but I think there is a setting in plextools that will work better or just as good.

Open your PlexTools and make sure your have the booktype checked
